London’s Young V&A museum has been crowned the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2024, after stiff competition from other notable institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery, Manchester Museum and Dundee Contemporary Arts. The award recognizes outstanding achievements in museums and galleries across the UK.

The Young V&A, which reopened in July 2023 after a 拢13 million transformation, is designed specifically for children and young people. Formerly known as the V&A Museum of Childhood, it underwent a significant overhaul to become a more interactive and engaging space.

“The Young V&A is such a special and unique place, offering an experience for children (and their adults) like no other out there,” said Vick Hope, a broadcaster and judge for the Art Fund Museum of the Year. “The museum truly places young people center stage, encouraging them to play, design and get creative through a fascinating collection of objects and artworks.”

The museum features a vast display of toys, interactive spaces, play areas and historical artworks. It offers immersive experiences designed to spark curiosity and ignite the imagination.
