Former US President Barack Obama was spotted in London on Tuesday 19th March 2024, where he paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. According to sources, the two leaders discussed a range of issues, including artificial intelligence.

Obama was in London as part of his work with the Obama Foundation, which oversees a scholarship programme and other initiatives. This was his first official visit to London after leaving office. His last visit to the city was in April 2016 when David Cameron was Prime Minister.

Apart from his official engagements, Obama is known to have a soft spot for London’s culinary delights. According to an insider report, the former President and First Lady, Michelle Obama, have some favourite restaurants that they like to visit while in the city.

One of their preferred dining spots is The Fat Duck, a Michelin-starred restaurant known for its experimental and creative cuisine. Obama visited the restaurant during a trip to Europe in April 2009 and tried a variety of dishes, including the famous Sound of the Sea, which combines seafood and edible sand uniquely and memorably.

Another restaurant the Obamas enjoy is The Ledbury, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant known for its creative and innovative cuisine. During his visit in 2009, Obama was treated to a multi-course meal that included some of the restaurant’s signature dishes, such as Red mullet with Jerusalem artichoke, black truffle, cep, and Venison with red cabbage, elderberry, and lovage.

The River Café is another favourite of the Obamas. This Italian restaurant is known for its stunning location on the banks of the River Thames and its delicious Italian cuisine. During his visit in April 2009, Obama enjoyed a meal of pasta and seafood and was impressed by the quality and flavour of the food.

Finally, the Obamas also visited Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant known for its modern British cuisine. During his visit in April 2009, Obama enjoyed a multi-course meal that included some of the restaurant’s signature dishes, such as Meat Fruit, which dates back to the reign of King Henry VIII.

It seems that the Obamas have excellent taste when it comes to London’s culinary scene, and their visits to these restaurants are sure to generate buzz among foodies and fans of the former President alike.
