At this time, he had begun acting and was rising to fame for the role he played in Scream 4 and the TV Land comedy鈥揹rama series Younger between 2013 and 2015. In 2018, Tortorella dressed up in a sheer black gown in runaway at New York Fashion Week which aroused further speculations about his gender identity. He said, 鈥淚t鈥檚 political鈥� It’s not just throwing on a dress because I’m having fun. It’s to prove a point,鈥� He explained that wearing a dress is an act of activism.  

Nico Tortorella鈥檚 marriage to Bethany C. Meyers is one that brought up controversial stories about the two lovebirds. Meyers is a fitness guru who identifies as gay while Nico came out as bisexual back in October 2016 in an interview with Vulture. In an interview, Tortorella came out to clear the air about the issue of being polyamorous; he said, 鈥淚t鈥檚 the ability to create space for more than one person at any given point.鈥� However, Meyer opened up that they get jealous, but it is a normal emotion among humans.

Having become famous as an actor, Nico Tortorella has used the platform to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Today, he is using the platform as a voice to speak to the young generation with issues of gender identity and to give a sense of belonging or more so a safe space to those who need a sanctuary to call their own.  He said, 鈥淛ust talk about how you are feeling more than you are because then you can begin to feel differently.鈥�

However, there are speculations and concerns from his fans on the issue of having children later in the future with his gay wife. While in an interview he went ahead to confirm that, 鈥�Every single day is a learning process for us. The next step is us bringing children into the conversation and into the mix鈥�.
