3. It is illegal to fish for whales on Sundays in Springfield

Whale fishing is not a common activity in Massachusetts. However, the law in Springfield forbids anyone from attempting to fish for whales on Sundays. This is part of the blue laws that forbade trading or engaging in some activities on Sunday with an aim of encouraging people to go to church.

7. It is illegal to dance to the national anthem in Nantucket

8. It is illegal to go to a wake or funeral wearing black unless you are a widow or a person of African descent in Lynn

Clam chowder is a popular dish in Massachusetts.
