Founded by Atlanta-based rapper Young Thug, YSL (Young Slime Life Records) has been a renowned label for music since it was created. There are several artists linked/signed by YSL which makes them a famous team. However, the reputation of the group has not been well in recent years.

Some of the members of YSL have been linked to heinous activities which have them locked behind bars. YSL has been connected to more than 50 crimes including three murders and several other illegal activities. The group has been linked to 3 murders committed directly and indirectly by the YSL members.

One of the YSL artists linked with a murder is 20-year-old Jakobe Moody. The rapper known by his stage name FN DaDealer was arrested for the murder of 28-year-old Tremaine Glasper. Tremaine was shot and murdered while in his vehicle on 5th June.

1. Young Thug, Gunna & 26 Others Are Indicted in the Murders

In 2016, Young Thug created the YSL group which has been making major moves but also involved in other criminal activities. There are several artists signed to YSL with some of the renowned ones being Gunna and the others.

Since their criminal charges started, it is believed that YSL is also a street gang involved in multiple crimes including murders. Young Thug, Gunna, and 26 others have been indicted in the murders and other criminal activities.

2. YSL has been Involved in Three Murders

The group has always been expected to be entertaining their fans, but behind the scenes, some of the members have been involved in other things. Some of the YSL members have been involved in three murders. These murders have been carried out since 2015. The top members of YSL have been linked to them.

3. A 26-year-old Man was the First Victim of the YSL Murders

The three murders committed by YSL were carried out in a brutal manner. The first victim of the YSL Murders was a 26-year-old Man. 26-year-old Donovan Thomas Junior was shot and murdered in 2015.

4. Donovan was Shot Dead Outside a Barber Shop in Atlanta

On the night of Saturday 10th January 2015, 26-year-old Donovan Thomas Junior was shot dead. The 26-year-old man was outside a barber shop on McDaniel Street in the Castleberry Hill neighborhood.

It was initially thought that this incident was a drive-by shooting. However, the murder was linked to YSL.

5. Two People were Shot & Injured in the Shooting & Killing of Donovan

Donovan Thomas was not the only person to be shot at during his murder incident. At the time of the shooting, there were other people who were around the location. A 20-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were also shot in the process. They were shot in the leg, but they never lost their lives.

Not many people witnessed the murder incident of Donovan Thomas. It is believed that the weapon used to commit the murder was a semiautomatic rifle. A neighbour, Sugar Thomas revealed that she heard the gunshots and went out to find the three men lying down on the ground.

鈥淚鈥檓 praying for the people who got shot. That鈥檚 all we can do because we don鈥檛 know what happened,鈥� she told the news station.

7. Founder of YSL, Young Thug is Accused of Renting the Car Used in the Murder

Founder of YSL, Youth Thug is accused of hiring a 2014 Infiniti Q50 automobile from Hertz, which was used in Thomas鈥檚 murder. According to Seiden, the indictment characterized Thomas as a rival gang member. The shooters of Donovan Thomas fled in the vehicle rented by Young Thug after killing him.

8. Donovan was Shot Multiple Times and died in a Nearby Hospital

Police told WSB-TV at the time that Thomas had several gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery, but he died there, according to the TV station.

The deceased was shot outside the barbershop, according to police, although homicide detectives do not believe they had any relation to the company. Police did not offer a description of the gunman or the car at the time.

Investigations revealed a lot of details in the murder of Donovan Thomas. Investigators who linked the YSL founder, Young Thug to the murder of Donovan revealed one critical detail. They believed that Donovan was a member of a rival gang of YSL which led to his murder.

The murder incident of Donovan Thomas was not a light thing in Atlanta. Donovan was a rival gang member who was respected among his ranks. His murder led to massive chaos in Atlanta. The gang member sided with Donovan ensuring that chaos rocked around Atlanta.

11. A 20-year-old Signee of YSL Charged with Felony Murder

The second murder committed by YSL shocked many because of who was involved in this incident. A 20-year-old signee of the YSL group is being charged with felony murder.

Jakobe Moody, a 20-year-old who goes by the stage name FN DaDealer was linked with the felony murder. When he was signed up to YSL, he was the youngest artist to join the group. 

12. Jakobe was Involved in the Murder of a 28-year-old Man

On June 5th, 2023 at Columbia at Mechanicsville Crossing apartments, the murder of Tremaine Glasper took place. The police received a report at 2:00 a.m. of the alleged incident. The 28-year-old man became one of the three people who were murdered by the YSL members.

13. Tremaine was Shot Multiple Times in His Vehicle

The 2 a.m. incident was marred by several controversies. Tremaine Glasper was relaxing in his vehicle when the incident that led to his murder took place. Three men approached his vehicle and shot indiscriminately at him. 20-year-old Jakobe Moody was among the three men who shot at Tremaine.

14. Police Found Tremaine Fatally Injured in the Vehicle

After receiving the calls about the shooting incident at Columbia at Mechanicsville Crossing apartments, they responded immediately. Reaching the scene of the crime they were shocked by what they saw. The 28-year-old man was lying in a pool of blood from the shooting incident.

15. Tremaine Died from the Fatal Shooting while at the Hospital

Police officers and paramedics who responded to the distress calls did their best to save the life of the fatally shot Tremaine. He was rushed to hospital with the hopes of surviving the ordeal. However, he died later as he was receiving treatment at a hospital.

16. Jakobe鈥檚 Mom Defended Him and termed the Incident a Mistaken Identity

The murder case Jakobe Moody is involved in has affected people close to him. His mother told reporters that her son is not a murderer and it is a case of mistaken identity.

鈥淗e ain鈥檛 no gang banger, 鈥� Latonya Moody said. 鈥淢y son doesn鈥檛 have a record. He has a little girl and he鈥檚 focusing on his music.鈥�

17. Tremaine & Jakobe were Best Friends who had hung out Together before His Death

As Jakobe is currently facing the murder charges in the case of Tremaine, more details on the relationship between the suspect and the deceased are being revealed. Jakobe鈥檚 mother who has been greatly affected by the murder case revealed crucial information.

She revealed that her son and the deceased were best friends. The two had also hung out together a few days before the shooting that led to the death of Tremaine Glasper. She also described the murder as a drive-by shooting.

18. YSL Indicted in the Murder of LaKevia Jackson

Other than the murders of Donovan and Tremaine, YSL has also been indicted in the murder of LaKevia Jackson. LaKevia Jackson was the mother of Young Thug鈥檚 child. She was shot and murdered on 17th March 2022.

19. Her Death was after an Argument

LaKevia鈥檚 mother, Sherina Jackson, stated that her daughter was at the bowling alley celebrating the birthday of her best friend. A brawl over a bowling ball erupted, and the yet-unidentified suspect waited for her for 20 minutes in the parking lot. Her mother went on to say that Thug and LaKevia鈥檚 14-year-old kid 鈥渋sn鈥檛 doing well鈥� after hearing the news.

20. She was Shot at Multiple Times and Died on the Spot

The shooting incident took place in a split second after the argument had ensued. The man who committed the murder escaped from the scene before police arrived. Jackson was found dead and shot multiple times.

YSL members are facing several years of sentencing if they are found guilty of the murders and other criminal charges. However, it is yet to be determined whether the charges will be on and whether Young Thug and his members will get their freedom.
