Dublin Airport has announced eight new commitments for passengers this summer, in a bid to enhance the travel experience for visitors. The airport, which is expecting over 10 million passengers between May and August, has confirmed a range of improvements and new additions in its two terminals.

The commitments, announced by airport operator DAA, include a promise that at least 90% of passengers will get through security screening in under 20 minutes. In addition, more than 50% of passengers will pass through new C3 scanners, as the rollout continues across T1 and T2.

Other commitments include high customer service standards, with a focus on continuous improvements in standards for passengers. The airport is also targeting further improvements with more staff in place. Dublin Airport is set to roll out 23 new food and drink options, with 12 opening before summer, and the remainder opening before Christmas.

Dublin Airport is committed to being an airport for all, with the addition of a second autism-friendly sensory room in T1 and the refurbishment of the existing sensory room in T2. There will also be more entertainment for children throughout the airport.

Further improvements are being made to toilets in T1 and T2, with 350 new seats allocated to areas where they are most needed, bringing the total to 7,500 seats available across the two terminals. Lastly, DAA has committed to keeping summer 2024 prices in line with summer 2023.

According to Dublin Airport Managing Director Gary McLean, the airport is always striving to make the passenger experience better. He said,

“We’ve been listening closely to passenger and staff feedback and have identified a whole host of improvements that will improve the passenger experience at Dublin Airport for the summer months and beyond.”

Passengers are advised to be in their terminal two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul flight. While security rules will remain the same until the scanner rollout is fully complete, passengers should still be prepared to remove all liquids, lotions and gels (under 100ml) and any electronic devices from their hand luggage when going through security screening over the coming months.

Dublin Airport’s eight commitments build on DAA’s 15-point Better Dub improvement plan, which was fully implemented last summer. The airport’s goal is to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for both arriving and departing passengers.

Passengers are encouraged to download the Dublin Airport App, which helps them navigate the airport, including providing live departing and arriving flight information and real-time security queue times. They can also submit feedback to DAA via the app.

With a range of improvements and additions, passengers can look forward to a stress-free and enjoyable journey through the airport.
