Czechia’s Most Popular Attractions in 2024 so Far

As the world begins to emerge from the challenges of recent years, one constant remains: the enduring appeal of Prague, the captivating capital of Czechia. In 2024, the city’s iconic landmarks and natural wonders continue to draw visitors from near and far.

Resurgence of Prague Castle

Prague Castle, the majestic seat of Czech power, reclaimed its position as the country’s most visited tourist attraction in 2024, drawing a staggering 2.19* million visitors, a 54% increase from the previous year. “The castle’s rich history and stunning architecture have always been a huge draw for both domestic and international tourists,” noted local tourism official, Petra Nemcova.

Soaring Popularity of Petrin

The Petrin cable car, which whisks visitors up the verdant Petrin Hill, came in a close second with 1.9* million visitors. Confirming it as one of the city’s most beloved attractions. “The panoramic views from the top of Petrin are simply breathtaking,” said Prague resident, Jana Svobodova. “It is no wonder the cable car is such a popular way for both tourists and locals to experience the city.”

Zoos and Aquaparks Shine

Beyond Prague’s iconic landmarks, the country’s zoos and aquaparks also proved to be major draws in 2024. Prague Zoo, with 1.36* million visitors, and the Aquapalace in Cestlice, Central Bohemia, which welcomed over 1* million guests, rounded out the top three most visited attractions nationwide.

Shifting Trends and Emerging Hotspots

While the top attractions remained relatively consistent with previous years, some new and revamped destinations made impressive showings. The Army Museum Zizkov in Prague, for instance, recorded the highest year-on-year growth after its renovation, attracting 140,000 visitors. Similarly, the Snezka cable car, Strahov Monastery and the Skoda Museum in Mlada Boleslav all saw significant increases in visitor numbers.

Embracing Sustainability and Accessibility

Czechia’s tourism industry has also made strides in embracing sustainable and accessible practices. “We are seeing a growing emphasis on eco-friendly initiatives and improving accessibility across our most popular attractions,” said Jan Herget, director of CzechTourism.

As the world continues to evolve, one thing remains constant: the enduring allure of Czechia’s most popular attractions. From the majestic Prague Castle to the captivating zoos and aquaparks, the country’s diverse offerings continue to captivate and delight visitors from around the globe.
