Kesha Rose Sebert, famously known as Kesha is an American singer and songwriter who became a star in the music industry when she was just a teenager. Signing with Kemisabe Records and featuring in rapper Flo Rida’s hit song Right Round was a major success for a girl at twenty-two years old. She became a joy to listen to amassing huge followers both online and in real life.

Becoming successful and famous at a young age has attracted many people in Kesha’s life. Some are fans who just want to enjoy her music, while others want to know about her personal life including sexual orientation and gender identity. thanks to Pride Month because this is the period when celebrities show their love and support to the LGBTQ+ community while letting everyone know that they are part of the group.

Kesha has had several setbacks during her journey in music including her differences with her producer Dr. Luke which led to the ‘free Kesha’ movement. However, she is a woman who can handle the pressure that comes with being a celebrity. She has shown everyone how strong she is by showing support to the LGBTQ+ community during the 2022 Pride Month by telling them that they are good enough and do not need to have labels to be loved.

In a deep and loving message on her Instagram, Kesha wrote to her fans and members of the LGBTQ+ community to wish them well during Pride Month and remind them that they should feel proud for being different and showing courage to come out.

“Happy Pride! In case I haven’t been straightforward enough (LOL) I just wanted to take a sec to tell everyone that you are not only enough, just as you are, but the world is so fucking lucky to have you,” she wrote on Instagram showing how important the members of LGBTQ+ community are and that they should know it.

Her support for the community is not an outside job because Kesha is part of the community- something that she says has always been with her since she was young. She adds on about her identity among the LGBTQ+ community where most people have labels. However, the Die Young hitmaker says that labels don’t suit her lifestyle because she loves everyone and she does not know what she is.

“I’m not gay. I’m not straight. I don’t know what I am. I love people. I love people because we are all our own little consciousness journeys, dancing around the sun,” Kesha dropped a bombshell shocking many people who might have put her in some category.

“How weird and interesting and fun this life is, right? I refuse to be anything, really, except for open to it all,” she continued. “I know it can be confusing sometimes, but you are so seen and loved. Love u animals, happy pride see u at Stonewall soon,” Kesha continued writing online.

Kesha is a woman without boundaries when it comes to love and her refusal to put a label on her sexuality opens an avenue to be in love with anybody. Her love for people does not know gender, sexuality, or sexual orientation. Because of her fluid sexuality, Kesha is free to have romantic relationships with straight people, gays, lesbians, transgender, queer, and anybody who may or may not identify with a particular group.

A reminder that Kesha had previously spoken about her sexuality in 2019 when she put a label on herself saying that she was bisexual. In an interview with Attitude, Kesha explained that she did not care about a person’s gender before falling in love with them. As explained in her Instagram post, the Praying singer said that she falls in love with the soul behind the eyes and not the physical body.

“It has never occurred to me to care about a specific gender, or how someone is identifying, to make me wonder about whether or not I’m attracted to them,” she explained to Attitude Magazine during a 2019 interview.

According to Kesha, someone does not need to label their sexuality and there is also no pressure to come out. She does not concern herself with the pressure to explain to people how she feels and has kept the same attitude since she was young. She thinks that she was born bisexual and did not see the need to tell people that she was so.

“My bisexuality was always there. I think I had a conversation with a gay magazine in the U.S. and they just asked me, ‘Oh, are you bisexual?’ and I was like, ‘Obviously,” Kesha said to Attitude.

While many people might be surprised by Kesha’s message on Instagram showing that she is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, she has always been open about her sexuality. She has been open for more than a decade.

When she was interviewed by Seventeen back in 2013, the American superstar was open about her sexuality when she let the public know what she prefers when choosing someone to date.

“I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with,” she said in the interview.

However, as years went by, things changed in her life and she learned more about herself and her sexuality. Now Kesha does not want to put labels on her sexuality saying that she loves everything and everyone. She has overcome more battles in her life and the pressure to have her label her sexuality does not seem like something she is scared of.

Amidst a lot of pressure in America and the panic as people detest the LGBTQ+ community, there is a lot of scrutiny as people want to know those who belong to the community. Therefore many people have labels to identify with the community. Kesha seems unconcerned with this kind of thing and she will not label her fluid sexuality.

According to the singer, “We are who we are” and she does not regret refusing to label herself as either bisexual or straight and does not identify with any particular category in the LGBTQ+ community.
