Lizzo is famous for her powerful voice which makes her an exceptional performer on stage. She is also known for her body positivity and strong advocacy for human rights. She has been open about her sexuality and gender identity, often supporting the LGBTQ+ community鈥檚 rights.

Lizzo was interviewed by The Vogue in 2018 and she did not hold anything back. She felt the need to explain to her fans her gender identity and sexuality. 鈥淲hen it comes to sexuality and gender, I don鈥檛 ascribe to just one thing. I cannot sit here right now and tell you I鈥檓 just one thing,鈥� she said in an interview. Her statements were straightforward as one could conclude that she is a queer woman.

However, Lizzo鈥檚 perception of gender and sexuality suggests that she is bisexual. She confirmed these rumors about her sexuality in interviews and through her songs. She says that she is fluid and would be free to date both men and women. According to her, she is flexible and free to explore beyond imagination, just like the rainbow colors. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 why the colors of LGBTQ+ are a rainbow. Because there is a spectrum, and right now we try to keep it black and white. That鈥檚 just not working for me,鈥� she added in the interview.

In 2022, Lizzo released an album named 鈥楽pecial鈥� through which she confirmed her gender identity and sexuality. In one of the songs in the album named 鈥楢bout Damn Time,鈥� Lizzo further hinted at her sexuality. The song was a global hit, containing the lyrics, 鈥業n a minute I 鈥檓a need a sentimental man or woman to pump me up.鈥� The short line in the song showed her fluidity in dating both men and women.

If one doubted Lizzo鈥檚 confirmation through the first song, then the second song on the album would clear all the doubt. The song titled 鈥楨verybody鈥檚 Gay鈥� also confirmed that Lizzo is gay. Although at a glance, one would think that Lizzo was using the title for queer baiting. However, the lyrics would strike you to make you believe that she is gay.

Some of the verses have provocative phrases, which are confirmation that she is gay. Lizzo deliberately uses lyrics that show that she is a queer woman and she would always admit that she intends to continue being the public figure that shades light in the society.

According to Lizzo, her music is meant to be enjoyed by anybody who feels alone and disowned in society. She has gone through homophobia in her life and her experience inspires her to be a change-maker. 鈥淚鈥檝e always stood up for the underdog and the underrepresented because I can鈥檛 escape from that myself,鈥� she said in the interview with Vogue. She added that three things have always stood against her in society; being a woman, being fat, and being black.

Lizzo says that in her fight for herself, she can鈥檛 help but also fight for the minority including the LGBTQ+ community. Therefore, everything shows that Lizzo is gay.
