Several people across the world live in fear and denial, failing to live their true selves. Da Brat explains that she was a victim of fear and a false image.

The ‘Give It to Me’ rapper states that she feared being isolated and losing her career if she had come out as gay. She chose to supposedly protect her public image by avoiding telling the world who she truly was. Her journey as a gay rapper was challenging because she feels that she was living a lie.

Her decision to come out as gay was to help everyone to follow her example and live a true life. She had been a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and was ready to take a step to help people have a comfortable life. She came out in the 2020 pride month, becoming a global topic online.
