Clive Davis鈥� Coming Out As a Bisexual. A Look at His Journey

Clive Jay Davis, famously known as Clive Davis is an American veteran who has revolutionized the music industry for the past six decades. The famous record producer came out as bisexual in his biography in 2013, despite having been married and divorced twice in the past.

Davis was married to Hellen Cohen for nine years since 1956, before breaking up and remarrying with Janet Adelberg in 1985. However, he broke up with Janet a few years into their marriage and kept a low profile regarding his dating life. The famous record executive and lawyer broke the silence on his relationship status in his autobiography in 2013.

In the autobiography, Davis talks about his sexuality admitting that he has been in relationships with both men and women. However, two decades after his coming out as bisexual, Davis had been in a sexual relationship with two men.

When Davis was interviewed in 2013 by Nightline, he spoke candidly about his romantic relationship with both men and women.

鈥淔or over 50 years I never had sex with a male. I wasn鈥檛 repressed. I had very good sexual relationships with women,鈥� he told the Nightline interviewer Cynthia McFadden.

The A&R executive became a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the year 2000 following his successful music career where he nurtured several artists. He is remembered by many people for being able to see the best in people, which helped him identify and help young musicians who grew into global superstars. However, his statement on sexuality left many people wondering whether he is gay or straight.

The iconic music producer settled the matter when he clarified that he is neither gay nor straight. Many people believe that a person is either gay, straight, or lying to themselves. Davis explained to McFadden that he is bisexual even if many people don鈥檛 believe in the existence of bisexuality.

鈥淚鈥檓 not lying,鈥� Davis said in the interview. 鈥淸Bisexuality] exists,鈥� he added and went on to explain to the world what it meant to be bisexual.

According to Davis, his first sexual encounter with a man came back in the 1970s after breaking up with his first wife. He says that he felt normal after having in sexual encounter with a man adding that bisexuality needs to be addressed.

鈥淭he subject of bisexuality needs much more discussion. It鈥檚 a status that does exist,鈥� he insisted.

He has been in several events with his unknown male partner just like normal partners do. He has also been an instrumental advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community after coming out as bisexual. As a lawyer, Davis has used his social status and platform to raise awareness about the challenges that people in the LGBTQ+ community go through in their daily lives.

His journey has been characterized by personal growth and professional achievements in the music industry as he continues with his work to help grow young artists. however, at more than nine decades, the iconic producer is poised to enjoy the labor of his work and he looks on while modern artists come out of the closet to be who they truly are.
