10 Things to Know About Nyle DiMarco From America’s Next Top Model
Nyle DiMarco was born May 8 1989 is a deaf activist, model, and actor from the United States. DiMarco won season 22 of The CW’s reality show America’s Next Top Model in 2015, becoming the show’s second male winner and the first deaf winner. The following year, he and professional dance partner Peta Murgatroyd won season 22 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
DiMarco was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland. He went to the Maryland School for the Deaf and then earned a degree in mathematics from Gallaudet University in 2013. Although he writes in English with ease, American Sign Language (ASL) is his mother tongue. Nyle also communicates effectively through lip reading and nonverbal cues. He has a younger brother, Neal, and fraternal twins, Nico and Nico.
He was born into a family of deaf individuals that spans several generations. Di Marco is the creator of the Nyle DiMarco Foundation, which works to better the lives of deaf people all over the world, and an honorary spokesperson for Linguistic Equality and Acquisition of Deaf Kids (LEAD-K).

He graduated with a Mathematics degree from Gallaudet University. Nyle wanted to teach deaf children math. While he was doing a little Modelling aside. The ANTM found him on social media and everything changed. Nyle still educates the world using Stardom and also invests in deaf children.

Before 2015, DiMarco had been working as a freelance model for roughly a year. In that year, producers of America’s Next Top Model got in touch with him. He is the second male winner, the only deaf winner, and the only deaf male in the history of the competition. After being discovered by the show’s producers in 2015, Nyle DiMarco entered the competition as the first deaf participant. He became the first deaf champion of the competition and shot to fame by the end of the year.

Di Marco’s Relatives are deaf including his parents, grandparents, and his two brothers and one of his brothers is his Fraternal Twin. He came from a fourth generation of deaf people. The c-26 gene might be the cause of his deafness and his family.
6. Nyle Di Marco was the first deaf celebrity to win the Global version of BBC Worldwide’s Dancing with the stars
DiMarco was among the famous contestants for season 22 of Dancing with the Stars, it was revealed on March 8, 2016. He danced with Peta Murgatroyd, a professional. After Marlee Matlin, DiMarco was the second deaf competitor in the competition. The season’s victors, DiMarco and Murgatroyd, were declared on May 24, 2016.
7. He is an Actor, Model, and Published a memoir
DiMarco made an appearance in the 2016 season of the Hulu comedy series Difficult People. Afterward, he made an appearance in the music videos for “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by Tóc Tiên in January and “Basically Over You (BOY)” by Alex Newell in March.
He participated in Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 in June 2016 as a model for Giorgio Armani. DiMarco was profiled in the Summer 2017 issue of DIVERSEability Magazine. As “Deaf Person of the Year,” he was also recognized by DEAF LIFE Magazine (January 2017 issue).
In April, he released a biography in which he shared memories from his boyhood in New York City and chronicled his ascent to celebrity. “Deaf Utopia: A Memoir — and a Love Letter to a Way of Life” honors his culture and community.
8. His Film ”Audible” was nominated for Best Documentary Short at Academy Award
Another of DiMarco’s projects, “Audible,” a Netflix documentary, follows a deaf football player as he practices for his last high school homecoming game. In the 2022 year’s Academy Awards, the movie received a nomination for best documentary short.
9. Nyle Di Marco has visited more than 30 different Nations
He enjoys traveling around. DiMarco has visited almost 30 countries. He prefers trains and autos because he can enjoy traveling through tunnel after tunnel. He believes that Sweden, Austria, and Belgium were the most accessible places he’s visited.

DiMarco describes him as sexually flexible, and he told Paper magazine in 2017 that he didn’t feel compelled to come out until he became famous. Suddenly, everyone was curious about his sexuality, and he admitted that he felt closeted for the first time — despite the fact that he believed sexual flexibility should not be something to be ashamed of.
