6. His first victory with United came against QPR (1-0)

Prior to Sir Alex’s appointment, the club was struggling in the league and facing relegation. The Scot was defeated in his first match as United manager against Oxford United.

On November 22, 1986, Sir Alex played his first home game against QPR. After going winless in his first two games, he earned his first three points with the club in a 1-0 victory over QPR.

When he took over, United was 21st (second last) in the league table and finished 11th by the end of the season.

As they say, the rest is history.

7. Alex began his laying career with Queen Parks

Alex Ferguson was a gifted footballer. At the age of 16, he joined the Scottish club Queens Park. Sir Alex Ferguson’s playing career began at that time.

He began his professional career as a boy under the age of 18 at The Queen’s Park club. He was a striker for the club and scored a lot of goals. Alex Ferguson scored 20 goals in 31 games for Queens Park in three years.

Despite his goal-scoring ability, the club did not select him as a regular player. That is why, in 1960, he left the club to join St Johnstone.
