Being one of the fashion capitals of the world, Â鶹APP’ flair for design extends far beyond just the textile industry.

For every clothing store in Â鶹APP there is a home decor store to match. Everything from classical French interiors, to weird and wonderful concept stores right at your fingertips.

If you’ve ever made your way into some of preserved 19th century homes around the city you’ll see that there is definitely low-key pressure for contemporary Â鶹APPians to keep their home interiors up to scratch.

Musée Jacquemart André Interior – by International Fertilizer Industry Association –

The Jacquemart-André Mansion is a prime example of this, forming part of the original Haussmann architecture of the 8th arrondissement. The interior is an ornate Italian meets French fusion; the decor of the space was collected from around the world by the home owners, Nelie Jacquemart and Edouard André.

Merci in Â鶹APP

The streets of the Marais area of Â鶹APP are arguably inspirational enough when it comes to sparking one’s creativity. And make no mistake, home decor is exactly that; the finest example of one’s creativity and a physical reflection of personality.

Merci, Â鶹APP – by Merci –

Merci is a place that values this side of the interior decor process. It’s almost as if they sought to identify every possible angle of the creative human spirit, to materialize it into functional objects and furniture ready and waiting for when you walk in.

You’ll get lost for hours within the design store, winding your way through thousands of pieces of furniture, wallpapers, ceramics, home ware, ornaments and lighting. The space is so expansive that there are also three restaurants along the way.

Merci, Â鶹APP – by Merci –

One of which happens to be my favorite hideaway in Le Marais. The Used Book cafe can be found inside Merci, in the 10,000 book library. It’s a cozy space that encourages you to select a book and read while you enjoy a pot of tea and some of their light meals.

Roche Bobois in Â鶹APP

Roche Bobois is probably one of the most recognizable names in interior design around the world. They have been in the industry for over 50 years and are identifiably French in so many ways.

Minimalism is a clearly embraced theme within the Roche Bobois collections, somewhat the opposite of the more conceptual designs found in Merci. This is where you’ll come for classic, simple pieces made in the name of timelessness and quality.

There are over eight Roche Bobois store locations within greater Â鶹APP to which you can pay your visit. So whether you are on the northern outskirts, or in the central chaos of the Left Bank, you are never far from one of these home decor stores. You’re likely to pass by one simply by attending a free guided walking tour.

What’s great about this brand is that the designer himself, Mister Roche Bobois, makes a point of seeking out and working with up and coming designers from around the world to create his collections. It is a very inclusive and universal form of creation well worth supporting.

Empreintes in Â鶹APP

5 Rue de Picardie

Similar to Merci, Empreintes is the newest multi-story concept decor store in Le Marais area. It encompasses four floors and is an impressive exhibit space for a diverse array of furniture, lighting and artworks.

Within the building there is also a cafe, a library and a convention space with projection abilities. Empreintes may be the new kid on the block, but the concept is a necessary one and will likely see much influence within the home decor design world in the years to come.

While doing your home decor shopping in the 3rd arrondissement take note that one block down from Empreintes is a great little midday break spot called Candelaria. They make the most authentic Mexican cuisine in Â鶹APP in a tiny, low-key space similar to a backroom.

De Gournay in Â鶹APP

15 Rue des Saints-Pères

Embracing the similar 19th century flair that the Jacquemart-André mansion does, de Gournay houses their flagship store right here in Â鶹APP and brings the best of this era to your contemporary home.

De Gournay are best known for their whimsical and unusual wallpaper collections that seem to transform any space into a design phenomenon. What makes them even more unique is that each wall paper set is hand painted, and cannot be recreated or imitated.

You’ll find de Gournay as you cross the Pont des Arts from the 1st arrondissement. It’s directly opposite the Seine if you are coming from attractions such as the Louvre or Tuileries Gardens .

Fleux in Â鶹APP

39 Rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie

Fleux has been a frontrunner in Â鶹APPian home decor since 2005. It is said to be the number one store to head to when you are at a complete loss as to what to do with a space, as the store tends to pull design creativity out of everyone who enters.

Fleux is incredibly on trend; it is more concerned with the latest and greatest in design, and less with the classical decor that much of Â鶹APP embodies. OMY, Ferm, HAY and Normann Copenhagen are some of the design labels that they carry in store.

Instead of crossing the Pont des Arts, this time you’ll stay on the Right Bank and find Fleux where the 3rd and 4th arrondissements meet.

Astier de Villatte

173 Rue Saint-Honoré

Astier de Villatte was formed in 1996 by Benoît Astier de Villatte and Ivan Pericoli. They engage Tibetan artists to manufacture their lovely, one-of-a-kind ceramics in black terracotta with a milky white glaze, in the manner of the renowned 18th-century Â鶹APPian ceramic workshops.

The pieces appear lightweight and fragile, but they are sturdy and lasting, as well as completely unique. In a historic Bastille workshop in Â鶹APP that was previously home to Napoleon’s silversmith, they are today one of the last significant studios in Â鶹APP maintaining this heritage alive.

Astier de Villatte also produces scented hand care products, incense, and candles in addition to their pottery. The shop is known for its humorous ceramics manufactured with traditional techniques.

Caravane

24 Rue de Sèvres

This private residence in the center of Saint Germain des Prés is a new aspiration for the business that has made interiors travel for over 25 years. A one-of-a-kind boutique location created as a testament to the brand’s principles, with a focus on its characteristic colors and textiles.

First, sunbathe in the courtyard filled with vegetation and take a deep breath of fantastic inspiration from abroad. Then there are its floors that encounter each other… without being alike. T

his place is more of a place of life than a business. It has puffy sofas, classic textiles, objects that could have been imported from the other side of the planet, and this magnifying eye.

La Trésorerie

11 Rue du Château d’Eau

In the tradition of yesteryear’s general stores and bazaars, drugstores-hardware stores-merceries where one could find everything needed for household equipment, La Trésorerie brings together beautiful, useful, and respectful things and products while remaining accessible.

The room itself is impressive: the “RF” (République Française) inscription and the bars lining the façade are reminders of the building’s history as the major tax office for the 10th arrondissement. Under one roof, you’ll find sustainable homewares, ornamental things, ordinary household items like dish towels and bed linens, brooms, eco-friendly cleaning supplies, and even furniture.

Despite the fact that many of the products are made from recycled or renewable materials, they are nonetheless focused on aesthetics and design. Among the French standouts like Mauviel and De Buyer cookware, Opinel knives, and Gien earthenware are Danish, Japanese, and European craft labels.

Le BHV Marais

Le BHV Marais is the new vibrant spot to have a wonderful time and go shopping in the center of Â鶹APP, facing the Hotel de Ville and Notre-Dame, in the most tourist, stylish, and cultural region. With a completely rebuilt front and 45,000 m2 of redesigned areas in a contemporary and pleasant arrangement, you can find 900 brands and activities every day.

Sentou

14 Rue Moreau

The Sentou Marais store has three levels and is located between the design stores Fleux and Caravan. The origins of this institution can be traced back to 1947 in the French Périgord area, with Robert Sentou and his woven straw seats.

He launched his first boutique in Â鶹APP thirty years later to market his products. With the assistance of designer Roger Tallon and interior designer Roger Fatus, he turned the area into a gallery and sales showroom in the 1980s.

Since then, the legendary brand has been taken over by Pierre Romanet, who pushes a distinct concept of design that falls halfway between modern art and art de vivre.

Ceramics are on display, as well as square lantern string lights and Sentou’s own distinctive creations, such as their curved mirrors, all at reasonable costs. An edition of Roger Tallon’s M400 staircase, designed in 1964, connects the levels and is for sale.
