Bernhard Caesar Einstein was a Swiss-American engineer and son of Hans Albert Einstein. He was born on 10th July 1930 in Dortmund, Germany but grew up in Switzerland up to the age of 8 when his family relocated to South Carolina.

Bernhard was the son of Hans Albert Einstein and Frieda Einstein who was also known as née Knecht. The parents of Bernhard had married in 1927 in Switzerland.

Bernhard Caesar Einstein was born in Germany where his father was involved in a bridge-building project. Hans Albert Einstein was the only one of Albert Einstein’s three children who married and had children.

Bernhard Caesar Einstein was born on the 10th day of July 1930 in Dortmund, Germany. The family of Bernhard lived in Germany before relocating.

Albert Einstein, the grandfather of Bernhard Caesar Einstein told his son Hans to relocate due to fear of the rise of Nazi Germany. Hans relocated to Switzerland.

Bernard and his family lived in Switzerland for eight years. At the age of 8, Bernhard Caesar Einstein and his family relocated to South Carolina.

2. His Father was a Civil Engineer and Professor in the US

Hans Albert Einstein heeded the advice of his father and relocated to the United States. In the United States, the family of Bernhard never struggled as his father had decent jobs.

While in Greenville, South Carolina, the father of Bernhard Caesar Einstein was a civil engineer working with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Later on, they relocated to Pasadena where his father was a professor at the Carolina Institute of Technology and Berkeley.

Bernhard was a very lucky lad as he grew up beside the great Albert Einstein. Albert passed on in April 1955.

Bernhard decided to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and father to study physics at the institute. He obtained his diploma and returned to the United States.

He started working as an engineer for Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. Bernhard also worked for several other companies.

While he was in the army, Bernhard was stationed in southern Germany. This is where he met his wife Doris Aude Ascher.

They got married in 1954. Bernhard Caesar Einstein and Doris Aude Ascher had five children.

Their children include Thomas Martin Einstein born in 1955 in Switzerland, Paul Michael Einstein born in 1959 in Switzerland, Eduard Albert Einstein born in 1961 in Dallas, Mira Einstein-Yehieli born in 1965 in the US and Charles Quincy Ascher Einstein born in 1971 in the United States.

10. Bernhard Einstein obtained 4 Patents related to Light Amplification Technology

Bernhard became a hard-working engineer who worked with several organisations and companies. He moved to California where he worked at Litton industries in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Bernhard’s area of specification and expertise was electron tube technology. He specified more on light amplification devices for night vision.

Bernhard went ahead to file and obtain four United States patents related to light amplification while working for Litton industries. After this major event, Bernhard relocated to Switzerland in 1974.

He began working in laser technology at the Swiss Army Research Lab. Here, he also obtained a further US patent.
