Aaron Mustapha bin Aziz is a Singaporean actor, singer, and film director. He was born on 23 February 1976 in Singapore. He began his acting career in Singapore in 2001.

 He later moved and is currently based in Malaysia, where his largest fan base is. He is also well known in countries such as Singapore Hong Kong, India, Brunei, and Taiwan.

 He has starred in many Malay and English series and his first big break on the silver screen was with the Malay feature film, Evolusi KL Drift in 2008.

He has starred in the 2018 Sci-Fi, Tik Tik Tik. Aaron has won several awards and honors over the span of his career in film.

1. Aaron Aziz began his acting career in 2001

He began his acting career in Singapore, with the Malay TV series, Cinta Bollywood (2001-2003) playing the role of Shahril. His role won him the Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role award in 2002.

He acted as Bob in Jeritan Sepi and Kopral Jamal in Heartlanders. The series was televised on Channel 5.

He also portrays Zack Ahmad in the comedy sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd in season 6, revolving around an eccentric contractor. The show ran on MediaCorp’s Channel 5.

He plays alongside the lead actor Gurmit Singh, Pierre Png and Tan Kheng Hua among other Singaporean stars.

2. He migrated to Malaysia in 2004

In 2004, Aaron Aziz moved to Malaysia and continued to pursue an acting career. He first played an assistant character in the Haryati drama (2004).

He went on to feature in several TV series, including Emil Emilda, Sadiq & Co, and Kusinero Cinta.

His most recent appearances on TV include Saga in 2021, in which he played Andy and Gerak Khas Undercover, playing Zaki.

3. He made his debut film appearance in Evolusi KL Drift

Evolusi KL Drift (KL Drift Evolution) is a Malaysian action film inspired by The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. The latter is the third installment of the American Fast and Furious Franchise.

 Evolusi Kl Drift was released in 2008 in Malaysia. It was directed by Syamsul Yusof, the youngest director to win the Malaysian Film Festival for Best Director at 25.

Aaron Aziz made his film debut in one of the lead roles as the character Joe.

The film sequel was released in 2010 although it made 4 million USD less than the first installment.

4. Aaron Aziz has featured in numerous films and series

After his debut in film in 2008, Aaron went on to feature in the 2009 comedy-drama film Pisau Cukur (‘Gold Digger’ metaphorically).

He plays the character Ari.  It is directed by Bernard Chauly and stars popular Malaysian actresses Nur Fazura and Maya Karin.

In 2011, Aziz played Malek in the action film KL Gangster. Malek is a former gangster looking to transform his life after leaving prison.

  The film was directed by Syamsul Yusof, who also starred in it. It is one of the Malaysian-made films to reach the collection point of 10 million in local cinemas. Other film credits include Ombak Rindu (2011) and Lari (2013).

5. He has hosted Fear Factor Malaysia

The show is a Malaysian adaptation of the American TV show, Fear Factor.  It is more of a stunt or dare game where contestants are pitted against each other in several stunts to win a grand prize.

Fear Factor Malaysia was first aired in 2005, with the host Shamser Sidhu. It was discontinued after 7 years.

It was then relaunched as Fear Factor Selebriti Malaysia on 29 December 2012, with Aaron Aziz as the host.

Still, on TV, he also featured in E Special: Aaron Aziz, as himself in 2013.

6. He plays a lead role in the Sci-Fi, Tik Tik Tik

Tik Tik Tik is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language science fiction thriller. It is inspired by the 1998 film by Michael Bay, ‘A°ù³¾²¹²µ±ð»å»å´Ç²Ô.’

Written and directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan, it grossed over 7.2 million USD and was given a ‘hit’ verdict at the Indian Box Office.

Aaron Aziz plays the lead role alongside Jayam Ravi and Nivetha Pethuraj. Aziz plays the character ‘Captain Lee Wei,’ a Chinese captain of the space station guarding a missile.

7. Aziz began his music career in 2012

He was first featured in the music video for ‘Untuk Dia’, performed by Malaysian actress and model Siti Saleh, Sleeq, and singer/composer Najwa Latif.

He went on to collaborate with Sleeq on the single track ‘Salam Semua’. It’s available on Deezer and Spotify.

Aaron Aziz has had a long career in the Malaysian film and TV industry, having featured in over 40 projects.

In 2017, he was awarded the Knight Companion of the Esteemed Order of the Crown of Pahang.

He was awarded this by Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang in conjunction with the Sultan’s birthday. It was to honor him for his contributions to the Malay entertainment scene.

9. He is married to Diyana Halik

The two got married in 2003. Aziz proposed to her from a stage of a Singaporean Award ceremony. He had been nominated for Most Popular Male Actor.

The proposal was witnessed by both live and television audiences. Of course, she said YES! The couple has two children.

His very first role in Cinta Bollywood  won him Best Male Actor in Supporting Role in 2002.

He won Most Popular Artist in 2003 for his role in Garisan Takdir. In 2005, Aziz won Best Comedy Act and Most Popular Artist for his role in Dol & Minah Nak Kahwin.

He was nominated for Most Popular TV Actor from 2007 to 2010.

He won Most Popular Film Actor and Most Popular Artist for Ombak Rindu in 2011, and again for KL Gangster 2 in 2013.
