Turkiye and India are strengthening tourism ties through a landmark collaboration that will bring 40 leading Indian tour operators on an epic journey across Turkiye’s iconic destinations. This mega familiarization (fam) trip, jointly organized by the Turkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI), is slated for June 30 to July 6, 2024. ​

The initiative aims to provide Indian travel professionals an immersive experience of Türkiye.  The rich culture, spellbinding landscapes and warm hospitality – paving the way for deeper tourism engagement between the two nations.

Turkish Treasures Await Indian Explorers  

From the exotic spice markets of Ä°stanbul to the cotton-white terraces of Pamukkale, Türkiye’s dazzling jewels will be unveiled to the OTOAI contingent. The itinerary; an extraordinary journey through ancient ruins, natural wonders and enchanting cities like Istanbul, Antalya and Ä°zmir.

“Each destination has been handpicked to showcase our country’s stunning scenery, storied heritage, and legendary hospitality,” said TGA’s General Manager Ä°smail Bütün. “We want Indian travelers to experience the full spectrum of Turkish delights.”

Beyond sightseeing, the fam trip will foster crucial B2B networking in Ä°stanbul, where Turkish tourism stakeholders and Indian travel agencies will convene to discuss collaborations and strategies to boost bilateral tourist flow.

“We’re thrilled to provide our members a firsthand taste of Türkiye’s offerings while exploring avenues for mutually beneficial partnerships.” remarked Riaz Munshi, President of OTOAI.

Recognizing India’s growing importance, TGA is rolling out the red carpet. “Indian tourists to Turkiye have surged consistently, reaching 275,000* in 2023,” Butun noted. “By catering to their discerning tastes and fostering deeper cultural exchanges, we aim to further elevate this burgeoning market.”

Indian travel professionals will bear witness to Turkiye’s unparalleled hospitality, safety standards, and seamless connectivity during the trip. Indian travellers are choosing istanbul for events, weddings and vacations for the aforementioned reasons.
