The highly-anticipated residency of Temple Bar Gallery + Studios (TBG+S) at the Dublin Port Company (DPC) Pumphouse has been revealed, promising an exciting lineup of artistic showcases and events. The Pumphouse, a Victorian-era gem beside a graving dock, will feature two solo exhibitions from renowned artists, Yuri Pattison and Liliane Puthod, under the theme of ‘Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home‘.

According to , the unique setting of Dublin Port’s Pumphouse, with its rich heritage and maritime significance, is set to provide the perfect backdrop for the artist’s exploration of geographic, economic, and transport networks. Drawing from the symbolism of rivers and seas, both Pattison and Puthod’s works offer a captivating reflection on the passage of time and the transient nature of existence.

Yuri Pattison’s site-specific installation is poised to captivate audiences with a multimedia experience incorporating computer-generated video, sculpture, and a self-playing ‘Disklavier’ piano. Meanwhile, Liliane Puthod’s immersive exhibition, ‘Beep Beep‘, weaves together personal family narratives and the social history of the iconic Renault 4, promising a unique journey through time and memory.

The collaboration between TBG+S and Dublin Port Company has been lauded by Lar Joye, Port Heritage Director at DPC, as a testament to the commitment towards enhancing port-city integration and accessibility for the public. Furthermore, this partnership signals Dublin Port’s ambitious plans to transform the Pumphouse into a dynamic space for exhibitions, events, and performances as part of the port-city integration strategy through 2040.

In addition to the mesmerizing exhibitions, the ‘Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home‘ residency will feature a diverse public event program, including weekly Saturday tours, engaging workshops during the Summer School, and special events scheduled for National Heritage Week, Culture Night, Open House Dublin, and the Dublin Festival of History.

This eagerly awaited artistic endeavour follows a series of successful cultural initiatives at the Pumphouse, such as ‘Hidden Pianos’, ‘The Pumphouse Presents‘, and ‘The Book of Names‘, showcasing a commitment to promoting arts and culture within the historic venue.

The residency marks a significant step in revitalising the Pumphouse, as Dublin Port Company continues its efforts to enrich the cultural landscape and engage the community through immersive art experiences. Stay tuned for an unforgettable journey through art, history, and creativity as TBG+S brings its inspiring vision to the storied walls of the Pumphouse.
