For more than one thousand five hundred years, the Baths of Caracalla have not been funtional. However, this is not the case anymore. The Romans have done something special to revive and bring to life the baths. The pools were unveiled on Thursday, April 4. Nonetheless, they will be officially opened to the public on April 13, 2024.
The Baths of Caracalla remain one of the largest and oldest public bath complexes in the Eternal City. They were built around 212鈥�216 AD and became one of Rome鈥檚 most spectacular sites.
The unveiling of a special pool measuring forty-two meters by thirty-two meters makes the people of Rome feel like they have the Caracalla baths back.
The pool is big enough to transport visitors back in the days of the Baths of Caracalla. It evokes the spirit of the site as intended by the officials.
The return of water in the baths is a joy as it helps people reconnect with the ancient world. The modern architecture used to create the pools is in harmony with the ancient ruins maintaining the history and culture of the baths. Water jetting from the bottom of the pool creates a reflection of the ruins.
Everyone in the city or visiting is free and allowed to be present during the opening.
