The riding of e-scooters in Prague has become a popular fun for many visitors. However, according to the Czech police, the activity has grown into a major cause for alarm over the years. Data proves there is a rising trend of riders operating under the influence of alcohol.
According to recent statistics released by the Czech police department, at least 42% of e-scooter accidents involved intoxicated riders in 2023. Per the report, last year saw 499 scooter-related traffic accidents. In all these cases, 403 were caused by the scooter riders.
Following such data, the Prague rescue service is emphasizing the need for scooter riders to be keen on riding rules. “The use of helmets and protective equipment is almost zero among scooter riders, the use of alcohol is very common,” explained Jana PoÅ¡tová from the Prague rescue service.
