The Royal Parks charity is responsible for maintaining London’s historic royal parks, including Hyde Park, The Regent’s Park, and Kensington Gardens, and is offering ten new places for its renowned apprenticeship scheme. The charity has announced that it is seeking aspiring horticulturists to work with top gardeners.

The Royal Parks charity’s apprenticeship scheme is open to people of all ages, and those selected will study for a minimum of two years, with a salary of £11.44 per hour, the National Living Wage. According to the BBC, the apprentices will be taught skills such as plant identification, propagation, and landscape design.

The chosen apprentices will work in the parks themselves, as well as spend one day a week at Capel Manor College’s Regent’s Park campus. They will also work at the Hyde Park ‘super nursery’, which grows 450,000 plants a year.

The Royal Parks charity says it is encouraging people with a positive attitude, a can-do approach, and a passion for gardening to apply for the renowned apprenticeship scheme and learn from gardeners at the top of their game. The charity also says that former apprentices have gone on to work for the charity itself, as well as at Kew Gardens, Crystal Palace Football Club, and Buckingham Palace.

Many of the charity’s apprentices are said to have entered the role after changing careers later in life. The Royal Parks charity says applications for the scheme must be submitted before the deadline of 21 April via their website.

The Royal Parks charity’s apprenticeship scheme is an excellent opportunity for aspiring horticulturists to learn from some of the top gardeners in the country and gain hands-on experience in maintaining and developing London’s historic royal parks. With the scheme open to people of all ages, it offers a unique opportunity for individuals to change careers and pursue their passion for gardening.
