Thunderstorm warnings have been issued by the Met Office, covering the southern part of England. The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for thunderstorms that could lead to possible travel disruption and some flooding.

The Met Office has warned that spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions, some road closures, and public transport delays. In addition, there is a small chance of power cuts and other services could be lost.

The Met Office has also stated that lightning strikes could lead to public transport delays and a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning, hail, or strong winds.

The thunderstorms have already caused disruption, with many people reporting being woken up by loud claps of thunder overnight, as storms raged over London. Another posted: “Woken up in a hotel room in Canary Wharf by thunder and lightning, all feeling a bit dystopian #thunderstorms.”
