The grand Ruinas do Carmo monument will be aglow with light, sound and atmospheric feel for an immersive show next month. Dubbed 鈥楲isbon Under Stars鈥�, the show will open  on 2 May 2024 at 9.30 pm, and run from Monday to Saturday (9.30 pm to 10.30 pm). It will be narrated by Catarina Furtado.

Lisbon Under Stars is a creation of studio OCUBO in partnership with the Carmo Archaeological Museum. It won the Gold A Design Award in the Cultural, Heritage and Culture Industry Design Category 2018-2019.

What to expect

Visitors can expect an engaging exploration of more than 600 years of Lisbon and Portugal鈥檚 history. The show has been running since its inception in 2018, attracting more than 170,000 attendees. The Carmo ruins will be transformed into a three dimensional stage for this immersive experience, featuring lighting, music and dance.

The narrator, Catarina Furtado will guide the audience with her unmistakable voice through this historical journey, transporting visitors through time. With 360-degree multimedia projections, visual effects and dancers, the combination of all these plus Catarina鈥檚 voice will set the stage for a magical experience.

The show will also feature special appearances from notable references in Portuguese culture, music and dance. These include Teresa Salgueiro, Mariza and Rao Kyao.

Visitors can enjoy it all in the breathtaking virtual environment, while exploring the majestic ruins from different perspectives.  Tickets cost between 鈧� 15 and 鈧� 20, and can be accessed on or the local ticket office.  Children 5 years old and below have free entry.
