The Irish government has issued a travel advisory warning against all non-essential travel to Lebanon, Israel, and Palestine amid escalating tensions in the region. Both Taoiseach Simon Harris and Tanaiste Micheal Martin have urged Irish citizens to refrain from making journeys to the area.

In separate social media posts on recent Tuesday, the Taoiseach and Tánaiste highlighted the Department of Foreign Affairs advice, emphasizing the growing instability in the region and its potential impact on the safety of Irish citizens.

The travel advisory specifically cautions against travelling to Israel, stating that the government advises against all travel to the region. Tensions between Israel and Palestine have contributed to the volatile situation, prompting the Irish government’s decision.

Furthermore, Irish citizens currently in Israel or Palestine have been urged to register on the Department’s citizens registration platform to receive information and assistance, should the need arise.

In a separate message, Tánaiste Micheal Martin emphasized the safety and security of citizens as a top priority. He strongly advised Irish citizens in Lebanon to leave the country and make use of the remaining commercial travel options available. Additionally, officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs in the region and Dublin are available to provide consular advice and assistance to Irish citizens in need.
