Dublin Airport recently announced a little-known rule that could cost passengers a hefty €140 fine. The airport, which is the busiest in Ireland, has taken a firm stance against vehicles left unattended outside the terminals.

The rule comes as a response to the issue of passengers choosing to leave their vehicles unattended instead of paying for parking. This violation of airport regulations, in addition to being an inconvenience, poses safety and security concerns according to airport authorities.

The consequences for leaving a vehicle unattended at Dublin Airport are severe: the vehicle will either be clamped or towed by airport police. Passengers will then face a fine of €140 to recover their vehicle, with an additional charge of €35 for every day that the vehicle remains uncollected.

In a statement advising passengers of the rule, Dublin Airport reiterated that the measure is in place for security and passenger safety reasons. Their official website states, “For security and passenger safety reasons, vehicles should not be left unattended at any time. Any vehicle left unattended outside a terminal will either be clamped or towed by the airport police. There is a charge of €140 for recovery of the vehicle, and if the vehicle is not collected on the day it is removed, there is a further €35 charge for each day’s storage.”

This strict enforcement aims to deter passengers from disregarding parking regulations and to uphold safety measures at the airport. It also serves as a warning to all passengers travelling through Dublin Airport to adhere to the parking rules in place to avoid facing hefty fines and inconvenience.
