The National Institute of Monuments joins in the Easter spirit by marking the start of their new visitor season during Easter. This season starts on March 28.

Over 100 monuments managed by the institution will open to the public from 28th March on Maundy Thursday (Good Friday eve) and operate throughout the Easter holidays. The monuments will switch to their regular visitor regime on April 2.

The move to celebrate Easter in castles is driven by an increased visitors’ interest in castles. Last year, the National Heritage Institute(NPÚ) received 4.2 million visitors throughout the year. Also, in January and February 2024, the institution saw a 17% increase in visitors to its monuments compared to the same period in 2023.

Some of the castles involved in this year’s Easter celebrations include the Uherčice State Castle and the Lysice State Castle. Also the Český Krumlov State Castle, Chateau, among others. For some monuments, there will be an increased entrance fee which happens every two years. But the system of discounts remains the same as set in previous years.

Visitors to state castles, chateaux, and other monuments can expect newly accessible areas and sightseeing routes. They should also look forward to Guided tours of Easter-decorated interiors and programs centered on Easter traditions and customs.

There will be creative workshops and fairs for children to keep them engaged. In many monuments, baking, and tasting traditional dishes will be available.

A new feature during this season is the Czech sign language translation for some tours. It will be available at the state castles Hrádek u Nechanice and Slatiňany.

You can get more details on the websites of individual monuments which includes the option of buying tickets online.
