In a significant development following a period of industrial action, Aer Lingus pilots have voted to recommend the acceptance of the terms of the Labour Court recommendation. This decision comes as a resolution to the recent pay dispute between the Irish Air Line Pilots Association (IALPA) and the airline.

 The professional body for Irish airline pilots, IALPA, which operates as a branch of the Fórsa trade union, revealed that the terms of the recommendation gained overwhelming support, with 85% of members backing the proposal. This strong mandate was demonstrated by an impressive 96% voter turnout, indicating the high level of engagement and commitment among the pilot community.

 Central to the agreement is a substantial 17.75% pay rise, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing negotiations. The balloting process concluded at 9 am this morning, following a series of rigorous engagements with the pilot members, allowing for a democratic and representative decision-making process.

 Notably, the recent industrial action led to disruptions, with over 500 flights being cancelled in the past month. However, the work-to-rule industrial action by pilots was suspended on July 10, following the decision of the IALPA executive to recommend a vote in favour of the recommendation by the Labour Court. This move showcases a commitment to constructive dialogue and a willingness to seek resolution through peaceful means.
