The late Spanish artist, poet, and photographer Ouka Leele passed away in 2022, but her legacy still lives on, especially in the eternal city. Rome is having an exhibition for the Spanish-born photographer as people celebrate her work throughout her career. The exhibition began on April 17 and runs until July 7, as people around the world are welcome to be part of this journey.

The Rome exhibition in Museo di Roma in Trastevere, themed for Ouka Leele, features her photographs from the early days of her career, including her first exhibition in Madrid in the 1978 show.

The exhibition also includes photos from her final years, including those from her final series in Asturias in 2014, nearly a decade before she passed away.

The exhibition does not only have photographs but also incorporates Ouka Leele’s archived materials such as posters and several of the publications that featured her photos.

Being a photographer with a second passion for painting, Ouka Leele’s works display an exceptional level of craftsmanship. She was known for staging scenes and taking photographs in black-and-white. She would then paint the black-and-white photos into beautiful little paintings with her hands.
