He was a popular Chinese singer and actor known for the TV drama “I Love My Wife” Qiao was born in 1967 in Shanghai, China, and passed away in 2016 at the age of 49. He was greatly associated with the C-pop scene throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. However, after the work I’ve seen from Qiao, I can confidently say he was a talented artist, and a kind soul as well as an inspiration to many.

Qiao was famous for his talent, positive image, personality, philanthropic efforts, musical influence, and legacy of kindness, as well as his connection with fans. He had an undeniably perfect stage presence. He was noted for being one of the most incredible upcoming actors of his time.

His English nickname was “Kimi” which originated from his admiration for Finnish Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen. His second nickname was “Old B” with several stories explaining how he got it. The most common explanation is, the nickname was related to his boyish and energetic personality. He had a cheerful and youthful demeanor on and off stage that made him seem younger at heart. Hence, his colleagues began calling him “Old B” which means Old Boy.

The second one is that he often wore second-hand clothes that were donated by his friends. Some of the hand-me-downs had the letter B embroidered on them. People began to refer to him as “B” and later the letter morphed into the nickname “Old B” as he got older.

Qiao began his singing career in 2005 when he participated in the Golden Star competition. This cater bolted him into the musical scene and was able to compete in the second season of the popular signing completion My Hero and finished as the runner-up. On September 16, 2016, Qiao was found dead in his apartment in Shanghai at the age of 28. His death shocked the entertainment industry and fans across China. After an investigation, the police confirmed that Qiao had committed suicide due to depression. His death also helped break the stigma that made people hide their struggles. Qiao is remembered for the lasting impact he had on the Chinses entertainment industry and the lives of his fans. From what I have seen in his films and music, I have learned that Qiao had a talent that was embedded in his being. His music and art were his life and that’s why he worked passionately on every project.
