Is Sia Married? Everything You Need To Know About Her Sexuality

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler famously referred to as Sia, is an Australian singer and songwriter born on the 18^th of December 1975. She began her career in the acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s and released her debut studio album, Only See in 1997. She has since had a thriving career in music and made a name for herself in this niche.

Sia has had a rollercoaster love life and she has been involved in several relationships. Her first relationship crumbed in 1997 when her boyfriend, Dan Pontifex was killed in a car accident shortly after she had moved in with him in London.

Her sexual identity drew much attention from her fans back in 2008 when she dated the female singer Jd Samson from 2008 to 2011. She has however been open about her sexual identity and in 2013 she came out to clear the air. She came out in a tweet saying, 鈥淚鈥檓 queer. I don鈥檛 identify as a lesbian because I鈥檝e dated men predominantly. But I鈥檝e certainly dated women.鈥� She added, 鈥淚鈥檝e always dated boys and girls and anything in between. I don鈥檛 care what gender you are, it鈥檚 about people. I have always been, well, flexible is the word I would use.鈥�

Sia also used her platform as a famous singer to support the LGBTQ community and talk about the struggles that she faced as well as other members of the community. This was in an open letter that she wrote for Billboard鈥檚 鈥淟ove Letter to the LGBTQ Community鈥� series. In the letter, she was grateful to the queer community for supporting her and mentioned that without them she could have withered.  

Sia has not come out in public to define her sexuality. However, she has said that she is fluid and she has been in relationships with both men and women. In an interview with The New York Times in 2015, she spoke about her sexuality and said, 鈥�I’ve never really felt like I fit into any one category. I’ve always felt fluid in my sexuality.鈥�

In 2016, in an interview with The Guardian, Sia went on to address the issue of labels, she said, “I don’t really like labels. I think they’re very limiting. I’m just a person who loves people.” Many of her fans came out to praise her and others criticized her openness about her sexuality. She has also played a role model to others who are stuck and trying to identify their sexuality.

The question whether Sia is married has been a heated conversation probably because of the many failed relationships and marriage. After the break up with Jd Samson, she was married for two years to a filmmaker, Anders Lang between 2014 and 2016. Nevertheless, Sia remarried Dan Berbard in May 2023. The wedding was a secret ceremony in Italy with only four guests to witness the vows in a gazebo decorated with adorable flowers. Their romantic life has been kept under wraps and, Sia only posted a photo of him on Instagram in October 2022.

We can say without a shred of doubt that Sia is married and she has not disclosed her sexuality to the public. Nonetheless, she said that she is fluid and has dated both boys and girls. She is also not interested in any labels, she considers herself a person who loves everyone for who they are.
