1. Alfred Nobel

He was born on October 21, 1833, he was a Swedish chemist, inventor, engineer, businessman, and philanthropist. Alfred is known for establishing the Nobel Prize but, he is also remembered for his other contributions to science. His most famous invention was dynamite, a safer and easier means of harnessing the explosive power of nitroglycerin. Alfred was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Alfred was later inspired to donate his fortune to the Nobel Prize Institution which would annually recognize those who conferred the greatest benefit to humankind. His name is a legacy that lives on in companies like Dynamit Nobel and AkzoNobel. The Nobelium synthetic element was also named after Alfred. 

2. Dizzy Gillespie

He was born on October 21, 1917, he was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, bandleader, singer, and educator. Dizzy was a trumpet virtuoso and improviser but, he added layers of harmonic and rhythmic complexity. Dizzy’s combination of musicianship, showmanship, and wit made him a leading popularizer of the new music called bebop. He won several Grammy Awards and pioneered Afro-Cuban jazz.

3. Doja Cat

Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini was born on October 21, 1995, she is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, and record producer. She earned viral success as an internet meme with the 2018 single Mooo! She later released her second studio album Hot Pink in 2019. The album reached the top 10 of the US Billboard 200 while the 5th song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. 

In 2021, she released the album Planet Her which spent three consecutive weeks at number two on the Billboard 200 and had the top 10 singles Need to Know, Woman, and Kiss Me More. Doja is the recipient of numerous awards and nominations throughout her career including five Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, five American Music Awards, and one Grammy Award.

4. Glen Powell

He was born on October 21, 1988, he is an American actor. His career began with guest roles on television and small roles in films such as The Expendables 3 and The Dark Knight Rises which helped his career. Glen’s breakthrough performance in the Fox comedy-horror series Scream Queens. His famous roles are John Glenn in Hidden Figures, Charlie Young in Set It Up, and Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick. In 2022, Glen starred in Devotion as aviator Thomas Hudner.

Judith Susan Sheindlin is an American arbitration-based reality court show presided over by former Manhattan Family Court Jude. She was born on October 21, 1942. From 1996 to 2021, she starred in her top Nielsen-rated court show, Judge Judy.

She became the longest-serving television arbitrator in courtroom-themed programming history. This earned her a place in the Guinness World Records in 2015. In 2019, she received a Lifetime Achievement Emmy for her work. Judy is also known for her work behind the screen as a producer and creator of reality legal shows featuring judges whom she has cast in arbitrating roles.

6. Ken Watanabe 

Japanese actor Ken was born on October 21, 1959. He is known for playing General Tadamichi Kuribayashi in Letters from Iwo Jima and Lord Katsumoto Moritsugu in The Last Samurai. His performance in The Last Samurai earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 2007, he won the Japan Academy Film Prize for Best Actor.

In 2015, he received his first Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. Ken is the first Japanese actor to be nominated in this category. In 2011, he launched a YouTube page to raise awareness about the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and the Fukushima nuclear disaster. 

7. Kim Kardashian

American socialite, businesswoman, and media personality Kimberly Noel Kardashian were born on October 21, 1980. She first gained media attention as a stylist and friend of Âé¶¹APP Hilton. However, she received further notice after the sex tape Kim Kardashian Superstar which was shot in 2003 with her then-boyfriend Ray J.

Later in 2007, she and her family began to appear in the E! reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The success of the show led to the formation of the spin-off series Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Kourtney and Kim Take Miami and the recent Hulu spin-off The Kardashians. In 2018, she founded KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance, she later founded the foundation garment company Skims in 2019.

8. Natasha Bassett

Natasha’s career began when she was at the age of 13 when she landed the lead role in the Australian Theatre for Young People’s production of Romeo and Juliet. She later landed the lead in the MTV film Dungoona and appeared in several Australian television series including Cops L.A.C and Wild Boys.

At the age of 19, Natasha was awarded a screenwriting scholarship from the ArtStart Screenwriters Program. During her time there, she wrote and directed her short film Kite, her film was featured in the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival, Berlinale International Film Festival, and Rhode Island International Film Festival.

9. Will Carleton

Born on October 21, 1845, Will was an American poet from Michigan. His poems were often about rural life. He is remembered through the Public Act 51 of 1919 which required teachers to teach at least one of his poems to their students. Also, October 21 was named Will Carleton Day in Michigan. Two schools in Michigan were named after him, they are Will Carleton Academy in Hillsdale and Will Carleton Middle School in Sterling Heights. 

10. Jesse J. Goldburg

He was an American film producer who was active during the silent era. He managed a low-budget company, Independent Pictures, based on a studio on Sunset Boulevard. He worked on films like  Life Without Soul in 1915, The Profiteer in 1919, Flashing Spurs in 1924, Beyond the Rockies in 1926, The Fighting Hombre in 1927, Life of an Actress in 1927, and No Man’s Law in 1927.
