30 Must-Watch Mexican Gang Movies
I don’t know about you, but I find the portrayal of Mexican gangs in movies quite interesting. In the movies that I have watched, gangs often provide a source of conflict and action while at the same time offering a window into Mexican culture by showcasing traditions, music, and slang.
From Heli (2013) to Sicario (2015), I have found that Mexican gang movies shed light on complex social issues like poverty, inequality, drugs, and violence. At the same time, the movies perpetuate harmful stereotypes about Mexican gangs, portraying them as solely violent and dangerous, which can contribute to discrimination and prejudice.
These movies will sometimes glamorize gang life and ignore the devastating consequences but they also show the gangs take their religion (most are Catholics) seriously and we get to see some leaders having moral dilemmas. Here are the 30 must-watch Mexican gang movies.
