13. Hard Rain (1998)
“Hard Rain” is a film directed by Mikael Salomon and stars Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid, Minnie Driver and Ed Asner. The film is a terrifying depiction of the challenges and risks a climber faces in climbing the world’s rooftop. The film captures the beauty and ruggedness of the mountain. While Dario Marianelli’s score heightens the film’s suspense and emotional impact. The Everest performance is excellent, and Jason Clarke does a great job as Rob Hall, his one experienced and determined leader of the expedition. Jake Gyllenhaal also gives a strong performance as Scott Fisher, the charismatic but risk-averse leader of the other expedition. The film follows the endeavours of a four-man Coast Gatekeeper team, driven by Bernie Webber (Chris Pine), who set out on a perilous salvage mission in a little raft to attempt to save the group of the SS Pendleton, which had been parted in two.
