The name Fred has been greatly associated with fame time and time again. Some of my all-time favorite Freds include Fred Savage and Fred Melamed. They are both famous critically acclaimed actors whose work is known all over Hollywood.

He is known for hosting and producing the children’s television program Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The show was educational and calming for young viewers. Fred wrote many songs that were featured on the show. He is known for being a strong advocate for the importance of quality children’s programming.

2. Fred Sanger – Biochemist

He was born on August 13, 1918, in Rendcomb, United Kingdom, and died on November 19, 2013, in Cambridge. He is a British biochemist known for his groundbreaking contributions to understanding the structure of proteins and DNA. His achievements earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. In 1950, Fred developed innovative techniques to identify and arrange amino acids. This marked a historic achievement because it was the first time the complete sequence of a protein was determined.

Fred is remembered for his contribution to the understanding of RNA structure and function. He also championed the importance of educating and training the next generation of scientists. 

3. Fred Astaire –  Dancer

Fred received numerous accolades throughout his career including three Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Glove Awards, a Grammy Award, and an Honorary Academy Award. In 1973, Fred was honored with the Film Society of Lincoln Center tribute. 

Fred is known for his partnership with Ginger Rogers in the films Top Hat, The Gay Divorcee, and Swing Time. Their films became famous for their innovative choreography and memorable musical numbers.

4. Fred Perry – Tennis Player

He was born on May 18, 1909. He is a renowned British tennis and table tennis player. He is known for capturing the prestigious Wimbledon Championship titles in 1934, 1935, and 1936. He was born on October 11, 1905, in New York City, United States. He died on June 25, 1999 in New York. He is known for being an influential real estate developer based in New York City. Fred Trump was the father of former U.S. President Donald Trump. In 1927, Fred founded his own company, Elizabeth Trump & Son.

Fred laid the foundation for the Trump Organization which his son eventually led. Donald Trump transformed the organization into a global brand with iconic skyscrapers and luxury properties. Fred Trump is known for playing a significant role in shaping the real estate landscape of the real estate landscape.

He was born on September 18, 1933, in Ohio, United States. He died on May 15, 2020, in Los Angeles. Fred was a beloved comedy actor known for his impressive comedy timing, portrayal of quirky characters, and improvisational skills. He built his career through television appearances including Real People and The Tonight Show. His memorable appearances include Modern Family, The Simpsons, and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Fred co-authored the influential B2FH paper which laid the groundwork for understanding how stars create the elements. Fred is also known for championing the Steady-State theory of the universe. The theory offered an alternative view to the Big Band theory. 

Fred Hoyle is a major figure in 20th-century astronomy due to his contributions to the area of the field. His ideas and scientific contributions have inspired discussions in the field of cosmology.

10. Fred Melamed – Actor

He was born on May 13, 1956, in New York City, United States. He is an actor, comedian, and writer. He is known for his work in both film and television shows. Fred studied acting at Hampshire College and the Yale School of Drama. When he graduated from Yale, he began his career as a voice-over artist. Fred Melamed lent his voice to commercials, cartoons, and video games.

12. Fred Smith – CEO of FedEx 

He was born on August 11, 1944, in Mississippi, United States. He is an American business magnate and investor known for founding and chairing FedEx Corporation. FedEx is the world’s largest transportation company. It should be noted that Fred conceived the idea when he was writing a term paper at Yale University.

His vision for the company was based on the need for fast delivery services. He pioneered the integrated air-and-ground network. Fred Smith has served as CEO of FedEx for over 50 years until he stepped down in 2022. He is considered one of the most successful transportation entrepreneurs in history.

He was born in 1900 and died in 1958. He was a prominent French physicist and Nobel laureate. Fred is known for his collaborative work with his wife Irene Curie which led to their joint Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1935.
