David Craig Berman was born on 4th January 1967 in Williamsburg, Virginia, to Jewish parents. He was a bright and creative student, and he excelled in both academics and athletics. Though the family was not religious, they we proud to be ethnically Jewish.  

Later in his life, David turned to Judaism and his Jewish identity was a source of strength and comfort. It gave him a sense of belonging and connection to something larger than himself. He went on a tour to Israel to get in touch with his heritage. 

2. He Had A Difficult Relationship With His Father 

David’s childhood was marked by both privilege and adversity. His family was financially stable, but his parents got divorced when he was still young. After the separation, he lived with his mum for a while but was later sent to live with his father as soon as he turned 12 years old.

David Berman married Cassie Berman who is an American musician and bass guitar player. Cassie played bass guitar in the Silver Jews band from 2003 to 2009 and co-wrote several songs with David.
