6. Siberian Huskies Have Snow Noses

Some of them have a multi-colored nose. The nose is usually pink and black and it is very common in the breed. Snow Nose appears during the colder season because it is the season when huskies thrive. 8. Huskies Were In the Market During The 1930s

Before 1930, dogs were exported from Siberia. It wasn’t until the Soviet Union halted the export that the Chukotka sled dog was recognized as the Siberian Husky by the American Kennel Club. In 1938, the breed was referred to as the artic husky it wasn’t until 1991 did the Kennel Club refer to the Chukotka dogs as Siberian Huskies. As of 2023, there are 4000 Chukotka sled dogs.

9. Huskies Served in The United States Army

During the peak of the Second World War, the army employed the breed as search and rescue dogs. They were also used for communication and transportation in the Alaskan wilderness. Huskies were also used in the Korean War by the United States Army for the same purposes. They were of great help because of their adaptation to extremely cold temperatures.

10. They Saved A Small Town In Alaska

In 1925, sled dogs helped transport the only medicine that could cure the diphtheria disease. Twenty mushers and their huskies transported the medicine in the harsh weather. The journey took them 127.5 hours but the final trip was completed by a Siberian husky and his team. They were labeled as the heroes of the town and appeared in all the newspapers around the country.
