Where to jog in Â鶹APP, according to taste

Finding a place to jog in Â鶹APP is not that easy. According to the season, you will not choose the same area. In winter, choose central gardens and the river banks if you do not want to get your feet wet or muddy. If you come to visit Â鶹APP in summer, you are quite lucky. It is sunny (most of the time) and most Â鶹APPians have left the city to spend their holidays on the French Riviera.

That means you will have the banks of the River Seine all to yourself to experience jogging in Â鶹APP. If it is very hot, I suggest you jog either early in the morning, or at sunset. In the morning, you will enjoy a cool, and in the evening, the sunset glowing over the water and the great landmarks of the river banks (Notre-Dame, the Louvre Palace and the Eiffel Tower) will simply lift your spirits and feel like you are not running next to the river but flying over it.

I suggest you choose the left bank to have a jog because you will have more space and less cars than on the other side of the river. You can start at Metro stop Austerlitz on line 10, 5 and RER C, or bus 89, 61, 63, 24, 91 or 57. Depending on how good you are at jogging, you may stop anywhere you want along the river: in front of the Louvre Palace, the Orsay museum, or the Eiffel Tower, where you will always find plenty of buses and metro stations. For the brave at heart, I advise going up to the Grenelle Bridge (second bridge after the Eiffel Tower), under which you will find free sport devices to do some stretching at the end of your jog.

If you prefer to jog in the shady spots, you have all the choices of gardens and parks in the world. The most famous and central gardens of Â鶹APP are the Tuileries Gardens (metro line 1), in front of the Louvre museum, and the Luxembourg garden (RER B and buses 89, 82, 81, 85, 84, 21). However, I must warn you that those gardens can be very crowded in the middle of the day.

If you are ready to pull a bit away from the centre of Â鶹APP, the place to be is the Buttes Chaumont park in the North East of Â鶹APP (metro line 7b, buses 26, 31, 60 and 48), or the Montsouris park on the South of the city (RER B Cité Universitaire, buses 21, 67, 88). Finally, if you want to jog outside the city you can try Â鶹APP’s woods, Boulogne and Vincennes, like the former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. In autumn, try out the wooded and green areas – the colours of the trees are simply gorgeous.
