Uruguay is a top South American country that has produced several top-quality soccer players who have dominated the football world for a long. Several players from Uruguay have been playing and excelling well in top European Leagues including the English Premier League.

This South American country has participated in several World Cups and has won a number of them too. Uruguay won the World on two occasions, in 1930 and 1950. They have also participated in this tournament in 1954, 1962, 1966, 1970, 1974, 1986, 1990, 2002, 2010, 2014, and 2018 and will play in the 2022 competition.

1. Juan Alberto Schiaffino

Juan Alberto was a professional soccer player who played as an attacking midfielder or forward during his career. He was regarded as a highly skilled and creative playmaker at the club level.

Juan played for several top clubs in Europe including AC Milan and Roma in Italy. At the international level, Juan Alberto was a real star for the Uruguayan national team.

He won the 1950 FIFA World Cup with his national team and also took part in the 1954 World Cup. With his slender physique, Juan Alberto was a tactically versatile soccer player who was always deployed on the left side.

His major strength was in how he read the came and managed the tempo of the full match. He will always be regarded as the top Uruguayan international soccer player.

2. Hector Scarone

Luis had a successful soccer career as he won sixteen major titles. He later went ahead and became a manager winning 17 major titles.

Born on 19th May 1979, Diego Forlan Corazo is a former professional soccer player who was a forward. Diego Forlan is always regarded as one of the best and sharpest forwards of his generation.

He was a well-rounded and strongly built forward that bullied the opponents in the air and had great shot power. Diego Forlan is a two-time winner of both the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe. He played for top clubs like Manchester United and Inter Milan where he was a great success.

At the national level, Diego Forlan had immense individual success at the 2010 World Cup where he was the joint-top scorer with five goals. He scored the goal of the tournament and won the Golden Ball as the 2010 World Cup best player.
