Many scholars credit Niles, Ohio, resident Harry Mosley Stevens with inventing the hotdog. By the early twentieth century, Stevens resided in New York City, New York, where he oversaw the ice cream and soft drink concessions for the New York Giants, a professional baseball team.
However, hotdogs in Charlotte were invented by a local Anthony Marc Hailey Jr. His entire family, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins promised to begin the same businesses in every corner of Charlotte city.
Of course, this family is famous for opening the first location of the Atlanta-based hot dog eatery The Original Hot Dog Factory.
The University restaurant will be the first of three locations the family will open in Charlotte. In addition, this has empowered many local residents, the restaurant plans to hold special events for local students and Charlotte’s homeless community.
There are more than 20 types of hot dogs to choose from in Charlotte, courtesy of Hailey Jr.’s family including a vegan-friendly Beyond Sausage dog and an Angus beef dog. Customize your dog any way you want or choose from a list of pre-made creations.
1. Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar
The establishment began in 2007 in Charlotte, NC. It was an immediate success, and for good reason.
Their philosophy to prepare simple foods with culinary passion satisfied a craving among restaurant-goers as nothing had before.
Now, in 2021 with 40 locations throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Georgia, Tennessee, and Colorado, Bad Daddy’s has been steadily building its reputation as a unique player in the burger world.
The specialties include a special lineup of chef-inspired burgers, chopped salads, and a fabulous selection of local North Carolina beers.
The most outstanding is their special and yummy hotdogs that have very delicious ingredients.
2. Green’s Lunch

Since 1926, Green lunch has been a place for lunch in Uptown Charlotte. Hot dogs are served on freshly steamed buns. It is Charlotte’s hotdog fun moment!
The interior and exterior are “humble” at best, but their hot dogs, all the way with a small squirt of Texas Pete, are truly “melt in your mouth” good.
The rest of the menu is classic southern diner fare which includes hamburgers, grilled cheese, and liver mush sandwiches. A great value for good old honest diner food.
3. Abraham’s Sabrett Hot Dog Cart
This place has takeaway services that people enjoy visiting for a quick bit. It offers no delivery services. However, it has the best hotdogs in uptown.
They have excellent customer service and a very welcoming staff.
4. The Atomic Dog

Atomic hotdogs are supplied by an individual who comes out in every event that I am presenting at the Independence Harley-Davidson. His hotdogs are amazing and his personality is excellent.
He is always clean, and normally shows up with the hotdogs when we need him, even at the last minute he shows up! This gives us surety that a snack as we work is a sure bet!
Above all, he serves my customers with excellent service and good food especially hotdogs!
5. Mahana Fresh

Mahana Fresh is located at 14815 Ballantyne Village Way
Ste 140, Charlotte. The place is known for the best quick lunch. They have a signature Bowl, the Teriyaki Tiki Bowl which is their top choice.
Other options are the coconut rice which is delicious and the teriyaki chicken and sesame ginger broccoli were full of flavor. They also offer garlicky cilantro green beans. More so the striking taste and the creamy wasabi sauce that is amazing.
However, coconut sweet potato sauce and a hotdog are the top meals.
6. The Original Hot Dog Factory

The factory was developed with an understanding of local people who love hot dogs from all over but don’t really want to do the traveling just to eat them.
The idea that someone wanted to share their love of hot dogs and knows how to make them like the other states are just amazing.
The restaurant is a must-visit and for college students, it’s in a prime location.
The Italian Dog has a deep-fried Italian sausage with grilled green bell peppers and onions, sounds simple and it is, but the flavor is out of this world.
The grilling of the peppers is just perfect because the peppers were crisp and seasoned just right.
7. The Sweet Box CLT
The pizza here is delicious with added ingredients on the toppings. This could be rated as the big pizza ever. That aside, the hotdogs here are, just like their pizzas, a great deal. The ingredients are amazing giving the hotdog the most delicious taste ever.
8. Mojo’s Famous Hot Dogs
It is custom-made to order hot dogs place. |Established in 2008, the major objective was to bring high-quality Kosher Beef Hot Dogs to Charlotte town. They have fresh ingredients which make it tasty and delicious.
9. Chili Man
They specialize in street food and stand out as a beacon for true street food-loving citizens. Also, homemade chili, home-spiced mustard, ketchup, and mayo homemade original recipe BBQ sauces, and even the Taco source makes good hotdogs.
It is important to note that the business was established in 2004. It’s no small feat to be an adult with ADHD and work inside the 4 walled prisons of a restaurant.
Chili Man has been featured in the Charlotte Observer numerous times, been voted Best Street Vendor 3 times, been featured on Roadfood.com (“Chili Man is King of the Queen City”), and has won way too many awards for his chili, Bbq sauces and hot sauce to mention in this small space.
Chefs from different restaurants come to eat here. The likes of chefs from Chima Brazilian Steakhouse, Boris Diou of the Charlotte Bobcats, and a whole slew of restaurant managers and employees.
10. A Little Taste of Chicago
The business was established in 2018 by a native family in Chicago who have cooking skills.
Led by Kevin, they resolved to begin the restaurant with hotdogs leading the way. Their services are excellent but their hotdogs are out of the world.
