St Louis has been the second largest city in Missouri. The city is located near the confluence of the Mississippi. It extends to Illinois having an estimation of over 2.8 million hence making it the largest metropolitan area in Missouri.

Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thhiam also known as Akon. He is a Senegalese-American singer, record producer, and entrepreneur. Akon was born in 1973 in St Louis Missouri to a Muslim family.

He rose to fame  in 2004 with the release of the first single from his debut album Trouble (2004), “Locked Up” (featuring Styles P), followed by the second single, “Lonely.”

His second album, Konvicted (2006), received three Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Smack That” (featuring Eminem) and “I Wanna Love You” (featuring Snoop Dogg).

2. Angela Winbush 

Angela has been an American R&B/soul singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. She rose to prominence first in the 1980s R&B duo Rene & Angela. And also scoring hits as a solo artist. To date, she has sold over 10 million albums and singles worldwide.

Winbush was born in 1955 in st Louis Missouri. She performed “Angel” live on The Mo’Nique Show, a late-night talk show. Angela Winbush was also featured in a 2010 episode of the TV One documentary Unsung.

Howard Earl Bailey Jr. who is also also known as  Chingy was born in 1980 and was raised in St Louis Missouri. He has been an American Rapper who started rapping while he was in his late teens.

During the summer of 2002, Chingy toured as an opening act with Nelly and became a protege of Ludacris who had signed him to his newly formed disturbing tha peace his new record label.

Jackpot, Chingy’s debut album which was released in 2003, sold two million copies. His second album was released in 2004 to mixed reviews, and Hood star, his 2006 release, spawned the hit singles “Pullin’ Me Back” (featuring Tyrese Gibson) and “Dem Jeans” (featuring Jermaine Dupri).

Christopher Bjorn Smith Jr who was born in 1991 in St Louis Missouri is also known by his stage name Smino. He is an American rapper and singer. Smino is the founder of the musical collective Zero Fatigue with Barl, Monte Booker, Jay 2, and Ravyn Lenae.

 He gained local fame in 2012 when he released a mixed tape which is called Smeezy Dot com and also a collaboration mixtape with Barl called Retail. Smino has been a member of the hip-hop supergroup zoinks Gang. It includes JID, Buddy, and Guapdad 4000. Also, he has been one-third of the supergroup Ghetto sage with Saba and Noname. 

He released two EPs in 2015: S!Ck S!Ck S!Ck and blkjuptr. In 2017, his debut studio album blkswn was released to critical acclaim. In 2018, his second studio album, NIR, was released.

He was born in 1997 in St Louis, Missouri, and is a popular American rapper, musician, artist, social media personality, YouTuber, and internet star. 30 Deep Grimeyy rose to prominence in the country due to his distinct rapping style and lyrics.

He has a pleasant vocal tone. 30 Deep Grimeyy has collaborated on numerous rap songs with NWM cee Murdaa. All of his videos have millions of views and are streamed across multiple platforms. His song with Sada Baby, titled ‘4530,’ is a blast, and people enjoyed it.

Diamond Alexxis Smith who is also known as Big Boss Vette has been an American rapper from St Louis Missouri. Big Boss Vette first gained attention in 2015 when she recorded her own version of Dej Loaf’s song “Try Me.” “Dog Ass Nigga,” her first song, was released in 2019.

Vette signed with Republic Records after her YouTube hit “Bad Bitch.”  In  2022, Pitchfork’s Arielle Lana LeJarde named Vette’s song “Heavy” the must-hear song of the day. Her song “Snatched” went viral on the social media platform TikTok. The song was dubbed a “summer staple” by XXL.

Solana Imani Rowe also known as SZA was born in  1989 in St Louis Missouri. She has been an American R&B singer. Sza started to make music in the early 2010s releasing two extended plays before signing with the Hip-hop record label Top Dawg Entertainment.

SZA wrote ‘ feeling myself by Nicki Minaj and Beyonce. She has also been featured in Rihana’s song ”consideration” in 2016. Ctrl (2017), SZA’s debut studio album, was met with universal acclaim from music critics.  The Recording Industry Association of America certified it triple platinum after it debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200. (RIAA). The album earned her four nominations at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.

Turran Coleman who was born in 2002 in  StLouis Missouri has been known by his stage name Luh Kel. He is an American singer and rapper who started as a freestyle rapper. Luh gained popularity after he released his debut single ”Wrong’ in 2019. It peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Hot R&B / HipHop song chart. His official music video has gained over 158 million views on youtube.

9. Ryan Trey

Trey who was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the USA in 1999,is an R&B singer/songwriter. He has been debuted with his debut EP EIGHT24 during his senior year of high school. Ryan Trey  is best known for his single “Real,” which was featured on several popular music blogs, including NewSickMusic. He released the single “Temptations” in 2018 before releasing his album “august.”

10. Layton Greene

Greene has been an American singer and songwriter from Eat St Louis. She is signed to Quality Control Music and universal music group. In 2019 she released her debut Ep, Tell ya, Story. Layton Greene has been Quality Control Music’s First R&B artist
