1 Her father and grandfather committed suicide

The father to Rhonda was Ronald John Rousey and her mother was AnnMaria De Mars. She was named after her father. His father broke his back sledging with his daughters. After being treated he learnt that he would be a paraplegic and that was a hard pill for him to swallow. He decided to commit suicide in 1995. Ronda was only eight years old.

Her Grandfather had also committed suicide. Rhonda described how competing in MMA gave her an outlet to let out her grief. She also struggled with suicidal thoughts herself after losing to Holm. Love from both family and her boyfriend persuaded her not to.

2 She is multi-talented

Apart from being a successful MMA, Rhoda has other talents and capabilities. She has appeared in films including expandable 3 in 2014 and Furious 7 in 2015. Also, Miles 22 in 2018 and telegraphy My Fight your fight,2015. She played the role of Devon on season 2 episode 20 of Blindspot.

Rhonda also became the first female athlete to guest host ESPN’s sports centre. She is also a Judo champion and began training at an early age with her mother until she was 13. She became the first female Judoka in nearly 10 years to win an A-level tournament.

3 She became the cover of men’s magazine

Ronda has many exceptional skills and talents. This has enabled her to appear in different magazines and articles. Her physic has won her favour among both men and women. Australians Men’s Fitness Magazine featured her in their November edition hence Rhonda becoming the first woman to be featured on the cover of the Australian men magazine.

Rousey appeared nude on the cover of ESPN the Magazines 2012 Body Issues and in a pictorial. In May 2013 Rousey was ranked 29 on the cover and in a pictorial of the September 2013 issues.

4 She faced challenges speaking during childhood

When young Rousey struggled with speech and she found it difficult to form sentences due to apraxia which is a condition in which children find it difficult to say words sounds or syllabi. The disorder was a result of her being born with her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck.

Her parents were caring and so they decided to move to Jamestown-North Dakota from Riverside California when Rousey was three years old. This was just because she could obtain intensive speech therapy with a specialist at Minot State University. The struggle was for the first six years of the famous fighter’s life.

5 She is kind to animals

Rhonda is not only a beast in the ring but she is a softy and a great lover of animals. Rhoda shares several photos with her fans of her home ranch. The home ranch has a variety of farm animals and is also home to domestics pet. During her training camp, she worked at CARE California animal rehabilitation during one of her training sessions.

She once vlogged about a stray dog that she scooped up during a road trip and took home to the ranch. She named the stray Dog Roadie. Dog Chickens, ducks and cows are some of the animals found at the ranch.

6 She was the only woman Champion in the UFC and WWE

Ronda is the only woman to be champion in both the UFA and WWE. Her skills and talent allowed her to headline a pay-per-view event in both UFC and WWE Company. She is described by Fox Sports as one of the defining athletes in the 21st Century.

 8 Her First MMA lasted only 24 seconds

The lead-up to her first MMA fight was highly unusual, two days before her MMMA appearance, Rhonda Rousey stepped in when he mastiff fought a Dog and so she obtained some injuries that required stitching.

Since fighters were not allowed to battle with the injuries that she had, Rhonda insisted on being nude during her weight and in faith that the officials would be too distracted to notice her injuries on the cuts. Surprise it worked. She continued and defeated her opponents in 24 seconds.

9 Dropped out of High school

Rhonda being an overachiever speaks volumes of her dedication and training in the sport. She succeeded in her MMA career not only because of her fighting record but also because, from a very young age before her fame, she was already training hard to make her body a force prepared to wrestle.

For this, she even decided to drop out of high school to spend all her time learning and mastering her skills. Luckily it paid off and years later Rhonda decide to remedy this decision by getting her GED.

10 Nickname from a WWE legend

Due to Ronda’s ability to fight, she was nicknamed Rowdy by her friends. Rowdy was a professional wrestler with the full names Piper Roddy who is a Hall of Famer. At first, Ronda was hesitant to take up the nickname Rowdy because she felt it was disrespectful to the Canadian professional wrestler.

After meeting in person Piper gave his approval for her to use the name. The name can be said to have a strong influence since both Rhonda and Piper were extremely successful wrestlers with marvellous reputations.
