Natalie is an American actress and director, she was born on February 15, 1985, and she is well known for her recurring role in the sitcom Parks and Recreation, HBO’s The Newsroom, and the Netflix series Dead To Me.

The actress attended St. Agatha Catholic School and Southwest Miami Senior High School. She joined the University of Miami’s Dow Jones Minority High School Journalism Workshop, she however dropped out to pursue a career. 

The actress hasn’t spoken up about having any siblings and she is believed to be an only child. 

1. Easy Rise To Fame

Natalie was given an opportunity to appear on CSI: Miami in 2006 but this was only a guest appearance. She later got her first main role in The Middleman, which aired on the ABC Family network. This allowed her to show a large number of people her capability as an actress. The show introduced her to many more roles.

In 2010, she joined the cast of the USA television series White Collar for the first season, she portrayed a junior FBI agent. In May 2010, she left the show and she began appearing as a regular in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.

However, her career seemed to be boosted by her performance in the show. Later the same year, Natalie appeared in Oliver Stone’s film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps which was a sequel to the 1987 film.

Her success did not stop there, she was later cast in shows like Trophy Wife, The Grinder, Powerless, The Newsroom, and even the Netflix horror comedy series Santa Clarita Diet. Just recently, she was cast in the second season of the Netflix comedy series Dead To Me.

She has been credited with appearing in around 50 movies and TV series. Her shows have made it to many famous and well-known streaming services.

In 2021, Natalie directed the teen comedy Plan B, the film earned her a number of critics’ praises. In the same year, she directed the drama film Language Lessons which she also co-wrote with Mark Duplass.

The film had its debut at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival in March of 2021 which was released in September 2021 and received a good number of positive reviews. 

3. Relationships 

After a lifetime of denying her true self and her feelings towards men and women, however, on  27 June 2017, she stated on social media that she is a part of the LGBTQ+ and identifies as queer.

She later shared with her fans that her pronouns are she/they. She explained that she is not attracted to a specific gender and that she prefers not to be labeled.

As a private person, she prefers her privacy over fame, she likes to stay out of the spotlight even though she is an actress. She likes to control how much gets out to the media about her private life.

Even though she values her privacy, she shared the secret about her relationships as a way to remind people all over the world that the person they love and adore is part of the LGBTQ+ and wanted to empower people like her to celebrate who they really are.

5. She Is A Vegetarian

She explained in an interview that it wasn’t until she started working in Hollywood that she began to rethink what she wants to put in her body.

She decided to just stop eating meat altogether, she even said that giving up pork wasn’t that hard. Even though pork is a staple in Cuban cuisine and the Cuban household growing up.

Natalie is the first Cuban- American actress to lead a TV series. She noted that her role in the show reflected both her Cuban background as well as her sexuality.

Since she got the role, she has been able to elevate her character and dialogue to represent her background and personality.

7. Other Than Acting 

Natalie said that she takes part in rallies and marches for charities that she is passionate about. For example, Everytown for Gun Safety is an anti-gun violence organization.

She recently said that she loves comedy, she loves to study it and works on it, and she loves dedicating her life to making people laugh and being joyous.

Natalie brought to light that animals have always been a big part of her life and they bring her so much joy. She said that in her childhood home they had at least three cats.

She also saved up money and adopted a dog, she says that taking care of pets makes you a better person and is an enriching experience. In an interview, she said that she would love to hang out with a pig.
