Kristin Landen Davis (also listed as Kristin Lee Davis) is an American actress and producer. She is known for playing Charlotte York Golden Blatt in the HBO romantic comedy series Sex and the City (1998–2004). She also received nominations at the Emmys and the Golden Globes in 2004.
1. She Has Featured Prominently In Many Movies
She has featured in many films but her big break came in 1995 playing villainous Brooke Armstrong in the Fox prime time soap opera Melrose Place (1995–1996). She has also been featured in; The Shaggy Dog (2006), Deck the Halls (2006), Couples Retreat (2009), Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012), and Holiday in the Wild (2019). Davis made her Broadway debut playing Mabel Cantwell in the 2012 revival of The Best Man, and her West End debut playing Beth Gallagher in the original 2014 stage production of Fatal Attraction. This qualifies her to wine and dine with the mighty of the film industry.

2. Davis is a Global Ambassador for Oxfam And UNHCR
Davis is a Global Ambassador for Oxfam and has campaigned in support of their work since 2004, traveling to locations including Haiti, Mozambique, and South Africa. It is remembered that in 2011 she gave a tearful interview with BBC News describing the situation at the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya where she witnessed the impact of drought. This brought the Camp to the world limelight and immediately resources were mobilized to mitigate the effects of the drought.
Besides OXFAM, Davis has worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and is included on their list of “High Profile Supporters”. For example, in 2015 she visited the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. Later she filmed a fund-raising appeal supporting the UNHCR, and in 2016 visited Australia to promote the UNHCR’s work, focusing on the plight of women victims of sexual violence in Congo.

3. She Has Received Recognition For Her Efforts To Save The Elephant

She has done a lot of philanthropic work. During her 2009 visit to Africa, Davis, known to be a lifelong lover of elephants, discovered an abandoned baby elephant. She adopted her and arranged for it to be taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center. In recognition of the attention she has brought to the plight of orphaned African elephants, Her commitment to protecting orphaned elephants won her the Humane Society’s 2010 Wyler Award, which is bestowed on a celebrity or public figure who has made news on behalf of animals. She is also a patron of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which works to protect elephants and other wildlife in Kenya.

4. She Was Once An Alcoholic
Unknown to many fans, especially those who associate her with the character of Charlotte York! Kristin has stated that a lot of her drinking had to do with trying to fit in and growing up in the South. She went on to state, “I drank a lot, which was rebellious because my parents didn’t drink at all. In the South, pretty much everybody drinks. There was always lots of alcohol, lots of access to alcohol, people sitting around every night with a Mint Julep, or whatever.” However, she has now been sober for over 20 years.

5. She Has Two Adopted Children Of African American origin
As a mother of two herself, Kristin knows the parenting drill and serves as a sounding board for “mother-to-be” Kristy. Plus, it helps that Kristin’s journey to motherhood was a bit unconventional as well. Although never married, Davies has adopted two children, daughter Gemma Rose in 2011, and in 2018 she adopted her son. Both of her children are African American and she has been very open about the importance of making sure her kids feel connected to the black community.

6. Her Breakthrough Was Dramatic
Kristin landed her breakout role when she was cast as Brooke Armstrong Campbell on Melrose Place in 1992. Never the less, her mean character was strongly disliked by fans and the writers didn’t know what to do with her so she was written off the show after only a year. In an interview she said, “Oh my God, it was awful! One time I was in a department store and, as I was walking around, I could hear women whispering: ‘There’s Brooke – that b-tch!’ I wanted to scream: ‘I’m not Brooke, I just play her on TV!’”

7. She Had Always Aspired To Be An Actress From Childhood
Her Acting talent was identified when she was 9-years-old. She got her first taste of it when she appeared in the Workshop Theatre production called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Later in an interview with The Guardian, she said: “I just loved being in the theatre with all those crazy, creative people.” As a child she got a lot of support from her parents who often took her to New York to see the live theatre and she loved it. “When I was a child, I loved New York, but I was scared of it. New York in the 70s was a freak show, so filthy and dirty and wild and scary. But exhilarating at the same time. I was intimidated by it, but aspired to it. I never thought: ‘I have to be here.’ But I did think: ‘I want to grow up to be strong enough to be here.’” She said.

8. Kristin Makes Sure Her Kids Feel At Home In The Black Community
As mentioned earlier both her adopted kids are African Americans. She opened up about parenting her children on an episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s talk show, Red Table Talk, on Facebook Watch. “Because my children are African American, I feel like it’s my duty and my job to do as much research, as much work, build as many bridges as possible because you are their community,” she told Jada and her mom, Adrienne Banfield-Norris.
“I work at that every day trying to figure out how I can make sure they have access to the Black community, that they’re part of it, that they’re not separated from it,” Kristin added.

9. Though Not Married, She Has Been romantically Linked To Other Actors
In real life she is different from the character on the screen. Like any other human being, she has been romantically linked to other actors like Alec Baldwin, Rick Fox and Steve Martin, but she has never been married. In fact, Kristin is the only woman from the Sex and the City show that has never been married. She is very different from Charlotte York when it comes to her views on marriage. “I do have friends who have stable marriages and I look at them and admire what they have, but I don’t necessarily think I’ve ever had that kind of relationship…I don’t know that I necessarily totally intended to [still be single], though I do remember being young and thinking, ‘Why are all these people getting married?’ But I’m an actress – I’ve never exactly been the status quo.”
10. And, of course, Kristin loves spending time with her kids
She’s considers herself a homebody and is a fan of chilling out with her family. “The greatest luxury is being home in the morning when my daughter wakes up and not have to go anywhere,” she told Haute Living in 2013. “My ultimate favorite day is not getting out of my pajamas. I have a beautiful home, a beautiful yard, and a lot of food. If Gemma and I could just be there, I could probably go a long time without leaving.”
