Samuel Little was one of the most dangerous serial killers in history. From Los Angeles, California, to Miami, Florida, Little left a bloody trail across the United States. Little started committing crimes as a teen when he stole a bicycle. As a result, he was taken to a juvenile jail facility.

Little asserted that Bessie Mae Little, his mother, was a young prostitute who had deserted him. According to the officials, she may have given birth to him while she was imprisoned. Little was primarily raised by his grandmother in Lorain, Ohio.

2. He had Problems with Discipline and Achievement in School

According to him, when he witnessed his kindergarten teacher touching her neck, he first started having dreams about strangling women. Moreover, he gathered true crime publications when he was a teen with pictures of women being strangled.

He struggled academically and with discipline while attending Hawthorne Junior High School. At the age of 13 years, Little was sent to juvenile reformatory north of Columbus, Ohio. He said that it was a penalty for stealing a bicycle.

3. Little had Numerous Run-ins with the Cops during his Youth

In the late 1960s, Little relocated to Florida to live with his mother. He was occasionally employed as an ambulance driver and a cemetery worker.

Afterward, he claimed, he started traveling farther and had more run-ins with the cops. Little was released from jail in 1964 after serving a three-year prison term. He was arrested for breaking into a Lorain furniture business in 1961.

Moreover, By 1975, he had been detained 26 times in eleven different states. This was because of offenses such as robbery, violence, attempted sexual assault, fraud, and violence against public servants.

4. He Used Boxing Skills to Get away with the Murders

 He had the intention of following in the footsteps of his Idol Sugar Ray Robinson. Little was known as “Mad Daddy” and “Mad Machine” as a light-heavyweight prizefighter because of his quickness.

However, Little exploited his boxing abilities to commit undiscovered murders. He would strike his female victims in the face and knock them out cold before strangling them. This frequently prevented obvious indications of murder from being visible. Thus, the cause of death was mistakenly recognized as an accidental overdose of drugs.

5. He went after Marginalized and at-Risk Women

Little was able to avoid detection for so long because he exclusively chose helpless victims who he thought no one was keeping track of. Most of Little’s victims were women who worked as prostitutes or who were drug users or homeless.

Sadly, Little used to pick up his chosen victims and take them to a remote locations where he would torture and kill them. Wherever he saw fit, Little discarded the victims’ bodies, including behind dumpsters and in alleyways.

6. Little Admitted to Killing 93 women around the Country

In an interview with Texas Ranger James Holland in 2018, Little first admitted to the killings. Little provided information about the killings in exchange for moving jails and a bargain with the authorities.

Little and Ranger James sat in a room for 48 days. They eat pizzas as Little confessed his murders. Little admitted to 93 of his murders. Little was a planned murderer, according to Holland. He also said that he was excellent at what he did.

7. He mostly Targeted Black Women

It cannot be disputed that Little’s hatred of women drove him to commit such heinous and vicious murders. Also, he primarily chose black women as his victims, as is customary for serial killers to do.

For instance, Little killed an 18 or 19-year-old black transgender female in 1971 or 1972. Sadly, he killed her and dumped her body near Everglades in Miami Florida.

8. One of the Few Survivors who were Able to Testify against Little was Johnson

One of the few survivors who were able to give a witness statement against Little in his murder trial was Johnson. Lelia Johnson was attacked by Little in November 1981. She was in her 20s. She was residing in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

 However. She managed to fight him back. Johnson had no choice but to dive into the oncoming traffic topless to save her life. She claimed the attack was never reported. This was beautiful she believed no one would be interested or believe her

9. Strangulation was his Preferred Technique

Little liked strangulation over all other means of killing. Little admitted to killing only one of his victims by drowning in a video confession that was posted on the FBI web. Sadly, the others were strangled to death.

This is the reason why Little continued with killings for decades without being noticed. Several of his victims’ deaths were first deemed overdoses or attributed to accidental or unexplained causes since strangulation is difficult to detect.

10. Little Sketched his Victims and Assisted Law Enforcement in Resolving some Cases Nationwide

Until 2018, when he broke his silence and admitted to killing 93 women, he maintained his innocence. He drew sketches of his victims and gave them to the authorities.

Hundreds of family members who had been left in the dark for years, wondering what had become of their loved ones, finally received closure thanks to the sketches from the authorities. Little’s confessions and his drawings are included in a public database that the FBI created.

Little was a serial murderer who was extremely prolific, but his crimes went unpunished for 40 years before his kills were finally discovered nine years after he had retired.
