Leati Joseph was born on May 25th 1985. He is an American professional wrestler and former football player. Currently, he is signed to WWE where he performs on the SmackDown brand under the ring name Roman Reigns.
He is the current and longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion in his second reign as well as the current WWE Champion in his fourth reign, making him WWE’s undisputed world champion.
1. Anoa’i married Galina Joelle Becker
The couple started dating in early 2005 while they both studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology. They reside in Tampa, Florida. Their first child, daughter Joelle, was born in December 2007 and appeared with Anoa’i in a PSA in June 2014. AnoaÊ»i and Becker had twin boys in 2016, followed by another set of twins in 2020.

The Anoaʻi family is a family of professional wrestlers originating from American Samoa. Family members have comprised several tag teams and stables within a variety of promotions.

3. Roman Reigns was once a professional football player
Anoa’i played football for three years at Pensacola Catholic High School and one year at Escambia High School; in his senior year, he was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Pensacola News Journal.
While at the Georgia Institute of Technology, he was a member of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team along with Calvin Johnson, who later became a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL)
After playing college football for Georgia Tech, Anoa’i started his professional football career with brief off-season stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL) in 2007.
He then played a full season for the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Edmonton Eskimos in 2008 before his release and retirement from football. Roman Reigns recorded 40 total tackles, two forced fumbles and 4.5 sacks during his senior year and was named first-team All-ACC.
4. Roman Reigns made his wrestling debut in 2010
Roman Reigns pursued a career in professional wrestling and was signed by WWE in 2010, reporting to their developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling. He made his televised debut on August 19, 2010, using the ring name Roman Leakee, in a 15-man battle royal, which was won by Alex Riley.
Under the ring name Roman Reigns, he made his main roster debut in November 2012 alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as The Shield. The trio teamed together till June 2014 when Reigns entered a singles competition.
5. Roman Reigns has won numerous titles in his wrestling career
Roman Reigns is a Six-time world champion in WWE, having held the WWE Championship four times and the WWE Universal Championship twice. In 2022, he became the longest reigning Universal Champion at 800+ days, which is recognized as the sixth-longest world championship reign in the promotion’s history.
He is also a one-time WWE United States Champion, a one-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, a one-time Tag Team Champion, the 2015 Roal Rumble winner and the 2014 Superstar of the Year.
6. Reigns depicted a change in character after his return to the ring
From 2014 onwards, WWE attempted to establish Reigns as their next “face of the company”, positioning him as a heroic character, which was met with intense disapproval by audiences and critics. However, following his return in August 2020, Reigns was repackaged as a new villainous character, “The Tribal Chief”.
7. His leukaemia speculation is true
Reigns announced his battle with leukaemia had returned. He revealed his battle with leukaemia had returned and that he had to relinquish his title. However, he vowed to beat cancer again.
Reigns’ battle with chronic myeloid leukaemia was unknown to many, and the announcement came as a complete shock. When WWE panned its camera to show the crowd, there were fans in tears as Reigns spoke.
8. Roman Reigns had a nose reconstructive surgery in 2016
On December 30th in the year 2015, at a WWE house show, Roman Reigns had his nose broken during his match against Sheamus. He underwent nasal reconstructive surgery two months after the injury, which altered the appearance of his nose.
9. How does the media view Roman Reigns?
Anoa’i made his first appearance in a video game in 2004’s NCAA Football 2005. He later appeared, as Roman Reigns, in WWE. He also makes regular appearances on fellow WWE wrestler Xavier Woods’s YouTube channel UpUpDownDown, under the nickname “The Merchandise”.
On December 31st in the year 2019, Reigns appeared on the 2020 edition of Fox’s New Year’s Eve with Steve Harvey, where he defeated Dolph Ziggler in a pre-taped match.
10. Roman Reigns considers Bret Hart his wrestling idol
Bret Sergeant Hart is a Canadian-American retired professional wrestler, currently signed to WWE under a legend’s contract. A member of the Hart wrestling family and a second-generation wrestler, he has an amateur wrestling background, wrestling at Ernest Manning High School and Mount Royal College.
A major international draw within professional wrestling, he has been credited with changing the perception of mainstream North-American professional wrestling in the early 1990s by bringing technical in-ring performance to the fore.
Hart is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time; Sky Sports noted that his legacy is that of “one of, if not the greatest, to have ever graced the squared circle”. For the majority of his career, Hart used the nickname “Hitman”.
