Old Mill Falls in Platte Clove
This waterfall drops at16-feet from the topmost of Plattekill Creek. This creek has about 18 waterfalls in the high Platte Clove, commonly referred to as the Devil’s Kitchen. The entire cascade drops at 1,200 feet in elevation.
The Plattekill creek happens to be the source of several waterfalls in the region.
For those that would like to have an easy hike, start at Josh Road in hunter, you will find parking space at the red house. The hiking trail will lead you to the Old Mill Falls.
This waterfall got its name after an old mill that used to be at the foot of the falls back in the 19th century. Although the waterfall’s drop is short, it has an expansive width making up for its height.
These waterfalls are even more splendid when the water is high. The best time to visit is after heavy rains or during spring when the waterfalls create a majestic veil over the creek bed.
The water from these falls flows through the Platte Clove into Hudson River Valley.
2. Plattekill Falls

These next waterfalls drop off a small opening at the top of a sheer cliff creating the most scenic waterfalls of your dreams. The falls can be reached through Josh Road. After parking by the little red house, hike for about a quarter-mile through Plattekill Creek.
You will pass by Old Mills Falls and through the forested area before getting to Plattekill falls. This waterfall’s drop is 70 feet long and flows into the creek below.
The rocks here are slippery and covered in moss and paint a mystical picture. The water in the stream below flows softly leaving some rocks bare for you to hop on.
While the area appears safe, take caution while walking on the trail to avoid any accident since the landscape itself is fragile.
3. Diamond Notch Falls
The hike to these waterfalls is 4 miles long and is full of adventure. To get here, you will need to use the trail at the Diamond Notch Road in Lanesville.
These falls are also known as West Kill Falls and are nestled in the lush Catskills Wilderness.
The trail to these falls is well maintained and marked. You can view the 10-foot-tall waterfalls by the bridge at the Crest of the falls.
For a different angle of the falls, you can hike up to the shallow pool below. A longer route to the falls can be used. It is 7 miles long while the shorter one is 4.3 miles. Depending on the adventure you want, choose the route that suits you.
4. Glen Falls

This waterfall is one of the three Catskills waterfalls are located in the round top region in New York.
Two of these waterfalls have swimming holes. You will find parking space at the Glen Falls House close to the hiking trails.
The waterfalls are within the Glen Forest Preserve and are one of the main attractions in Dupage County.
The waterfalls which form a dam, surrounding the Argonne National Lab.
The Glen Falls forest preserve is on 2,492 acres of land. It forms part of the ecological space in the county.
The forest preserve has grasslands, savannah and oak-maple woodlands. It has more than 740 endangered plant species that grow naturally.
It is also home to more than 300 species of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, and reptiles. At least 300 birds temporarily stay here during their annual migrations.
5. Crystal Brook Resort Waterfall

Crystal Brook Resort Waterfall is tucked away in Round Top. This 18-foot-long waterfall has a swimming hole and beautiful views of the mountain.
This place is particularly perfect for those hot summer days, where one can take refreshing dips beneath the natural shower.
You can also cool off by simply sitting on the water’s edge and enjoy the endless views of Catskills views.
The trail leading to these falls is 7 miles and is an easy one with clear signage, alternatively, you can get a map from the front office desk.
