Recently, the youngster came out on an Instagram post admitting that they are non-binary and would prefer being referred to as they/them. But how was the journey for the rising future screen legend? Growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina, Lachlan Watson was an extremely extroverted kid who adored makeup in movie theatres. 鈥淔or me, it was about freedom. I started playing with makeup when I was 11 or 12. I would do other people鈥檚 makeup and I was always fascinated with complementing people鈥檚 features. It was just this fun little way of me being able to connect with people,鈥� Lachlan said in an interview with Vogue.

As a kid, the actor never knew the significance of different gender and therefore kept hoping from one binary to another. At some point, Lachlan came out as lesbian, and later on as transgender before finally settling into being non-binary. While being interviewed by Vogue, Lachlan said that gender and sexuality issues had never crossed their mind when growing up. 鈥淚t never fit into the ideas of, 鈥極h well, I鈥檓 doing this to look more female鈥�, or 鈥業鈥檓 doing this t look like someone else.鈥� for me it was purely about feeling good about myself,鈥� The actor said in a zoom interview with Vogue.

Growing up as a male, Lachlan would occasionally get scarred while playing around. The actor narrated the childhood story when they got scars falling while riding a bicycle. However, after becoming famous through the movie, people have questioned how the actor copes with the scars on the body. Lachlan said that they had been waiting to become an adult, or at least turn eighteen before addressing the issue of scar on the body after going through top surgery. Lachlan is not ashamed of the scars on their body and has gone ahead to post photos on Instagram showing scars.

The actor has also expressed their gratitude to their mom in recent interviews. Their mom was an inspiration throughout the journey after getting top surgery. The mother has always been on the actor鈥檚 side as a kid, and now as an adult. Being a queer young actor in America would make many people avoid you. However, their mother has always emphasized her love for the actor.

Growing up without a definite gender denied Lachlan many opportunities to appear on the screen. When the actor came out as lesbian, they got denied some roles in acting. However, becoming non-binary opened new chances for the actor, one of them being the role in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
