Las Vegas has witnessed an increasing number of Japanese restaurants on and off the strip. It’s therefore not hard to find a place to indulge in some Japanese cuisine. This list is sure to satisfy both locals and visitors alike who seek the best Japanese food. Here are some of the best Japanese restaurants in Las Vegas.

1 Kabuto Edomae Sushi Restaurant

A meal at Kabuto Restaurant will leave an exceptionally long-lasting impression on its guests. It seats 18 guests at a time and there’s no sign marking the location, only a small rendering on the light next to the door. Guests seated at the sushi bar will experience Edomae-style dining utilizing the finest cuts of fish.

Apart from a brief list of appetizers, the menu has three other choices to go with. There is a smaller “nigiri” tasting menu and two omakase options each featuring an apéritif saké, an appetizer, a selection of nigiri, a hand roll, and dessert. The omakase also includes sashimi, a grilled dish, soup, and ten pieces of nigari all of which are delightful. They have each piece prepared and served one at a time. With the floor lowered, the chef is at eye level with his guests and bows upon the presentation of each plate.

2 Sushi Roku

The menu features superlative traditional sushi together with a splash of California innovation and creative maki (spicy Canadian rock shrimp with asparagus or toro with jalapeño). Those who are undecided on what to order should go with the omakase menu, it allows the chef to guide you through the best tastes of the day. There’s also a good selection of sakés, unique martinis, and specialty cocktails, often made with the in-house infused vodkas that make the experience here truly remarkable.

3 Nobu Caesars Palace Las Vegas

Nobu at Caesars Palace is open on the Las Vegas Strip. It is the first restaurant in Nobu Matsuhisa’s collection and the first to reside alongside a Nobu Hotel. It offers teppanyaki tables and an in-room dining menu with an army of sushi chefs who will boisterously proclaim “Irasshaimase,” the Japanese greeting of welcome when you arrive there.

While here visitors should check out Japanese Wagyu beef and black cod miso that is marinated and broiled to the point that it melts in your mouth. There is also a house special sushi roll that consists of yellowtail, salmon, tuna, whitefish, and snow crab wrapped in paper-thin daikon which is incredible. In addition, there is a list of sakés that is imported by Hokusetsu exclusively for Nobu in the U.S including premium Japanese imported beers and whiskies.

4 Yui Edomae Sushi (Sushi)

Located at 3460 Arville Street in Las Vegas, this simply styled restaurant is a showcase for the art of traditional edomae sushi. At Yui, chef Mizoguchi raises the bar by focusing on premium omakase courses and omotenashi (warm Japanese hospitality). There is a wide array of delicious dishes at fair prices and visitors will enjoy the fine décor and cool atmosphere here.

While at Yui, a meal is a special-occasion splurge. They have their fish and unpolished rice flew from Japan. The rice is then polished right before its cooked to achieve the best texture for sushi. This remarkable restaurant will leave its visitors craving for more.

5 Mizumi Restaurant

Mizumi is a jewel of a restaurant tucked into the Wynn with a sushi bar, a robata grill bar, multiple teppanyaki stations, and regular table services. The food here is amazing with a ton of possibilities for you to curate your dining experience as you wish. Offered on the menu are sushi, sashimi, and robatayaki selections prepared over authentic Japanese charcoal grills, and teppanyaki offerings. For guests who may find it hard to decide on what to eat, they can rely on executive chef Min Kim’s inspirations with the nightly chef’s tasting menu.

The restaurant has been redesigned with a red color scheme with Noh theater masks, embroidered obi sashes, and hand-painted fans gracing the walls. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide a tranquil view of an idyllic koi pond with a 90-foot waterfall surrounded by private Japanese gardens. From exceptionally delicious food, and luxurious interior to gorgeous outside views, the dining experience at Mizumi is quite unforgettable.

6 Koi

Koi is found in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas. The décor is Asian-inspired with modern design elements. They have a distinctive approach to service and progressive Japanese cuisine. Their menu is inspired by traditional Japanese dishes enhanced with modern California accents and influences from Asia.

For starters, try out the crispy rice topped with spicy tuna, and fresh salmon carpaccio with black truffles and savory ponzu. You can also opt for peppercorn filet mignon toban-yaki with shishito potato mash and end the meal on a sweet note with the coconut rice pudding crème brûlée. They have an extensive list of sake and creative cocktails.

7 Morimoto

Morimoto restaurant is located at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Once in the casino, take a right past the Lobby Bar. Thereafter pass Wolfgang Puck then turn right towards the District and Morimoto will be on your right. It is run by chef Masaharu Morimoto, who pays homage to his homeland of Japan with Japanese artwork on the walls of the restaurant.

Here they serve a wide range of fresh seafood to creative reinterpretations of Japanese classics like tuna tartare. Some of the treasures you will find offered on the menu include Wagyu beef carpaccio with ginger, steamed oyster with seared foie gras, house-made teriyaki, kakuni, and a 10-hour braised pork belly. You should also try out fried prawns and shrimp tempura. All these are complemented with, beer, fine wine, and sake contract-brewed for Morimoto, such as Morimoto Hazelnut Ale and Junmai Ginjo Sake.

8 Hatsumi Restaurant

Hatsumi restaurant is located at 1028 Fremont St. Las Vegas and seats about 24 guests at a time. It is modeled after a 1980s bar in Tokyo and features an open kitchen with light wood tables. Nothing on the menu exceeds $15 and what’s more, during the happy hour from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. you can negotiate a discount.

The menu features the likes of pork belly, miso chicken breast, beef filet, and shrimp. There are also some out-of-the-box choices to go for, such as beef tongue, chicken skin, and veal sweetbreads. In addition, they have the largest sake list downtown and Japanese craft beers such as Echigo Koshihikari Lager.

9 Yellowtail Japanese Restaurant & Lounge

10 Kumi

Located in the heart of Restaurant Row at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is the Kumi Restaurant.  They combine East-Asian ingredients with Korean flavors creating a modern approach to Japanese Cuisine. The restaurant features an architectural design of natural woods with cherry blossom hues creating an exceptional atmosphere for an evening in Las Vegas. They also offer options to book large party dinners, Private Dining Rooms, Lounge Receptions, and Venue buyouts.

The menu here is quite playful and guests are welcome to indulge in a variety of shared plates. Try out the Pop Rockin’ roll with spicy tuna, crab salad, crispy pork belly roll with Brussels sprouts coleslaw, or slow-braised octopus just to mention a few. There are four types of Japanese saké available that is worth a try. Some of the desserts they offer include; milk chocolate, graham cracker flakes, candied macadamia nuts, and salted honey ice cream topped with green tea-infused salt which leaves visitors satisfied.
