Looking to travel to San Diego soon? This article lists some of the best and most fun things to do in the city. We leave it up to you to pick your preferred experience, but whatever it is, you can hardly go wrong with San Diego.

Quick Tips before you go

Rent a car or use Uber: To get around, especially to areas away from Downtown, a car is the most convenient means to use. If you’re not already driving to San Diego, get a car from the car rentals at the airport. Public transport may not be sufficient. Parking fees in downtown and most of the touristy areas will often be pricey, so budget for that as well. Ubers and taxis are best suited if you’re not used to driving around in big cities. Traffic in San Diego will stress you out during rush hour, but planning around it is better than trying to beat it. Check with your hotel on the easiest times to drive to certain places in the area.

Don’t visit on holiday weekends if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway. The city is swamped, and prices are over the roof in most places. Convention weeks are equally busy, and hotels in town will be booked or quite expensive, or both. Avoid visiting during Comicon in July, unless you’ve planned to attend it. If you have, book months in advance just to be safe.

If you’re here for the sunny weather, avoid visiting in May or June. The overcast days often experienced in the two months have earned them the names ‘May Gray’ and ‘June Gloom’.

Leave downtown and explore more of San Diego! Head over to North Park, Coronado, or La Jolla neighborhoods and explore great treats. We’ve highlighted some of these within the article. Most visitors prefer staying in Downtown and the area has fantastic hotels. Just don’t forget to leave the area and discover more of what San Diego has to offer.

Here are the 60 best things to do on your visit!
