Thomas and Jackie Hawks took a brand-new, 55-foot yacht on a two-year voyage after years of hard saving. However, the couple made the decision to sell their beloved ocean sailboat and relocate from California to Arizona to assist raise their soon-to-be granddaughter after learning they were expecting.
In November 2004, when they published an advertisement for the yacht, Deleon was an adult and prepared to seize what wasn’t legitimately hers, no matter what. 1. The Murderer First Appeared in Different Children Series
He first had an appearance in several kid’s shows and had a minor role in Power Rangers, where she briefly found success. Skylar played the non-speaking role on the TV’s Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.

2. He Changed his Name Twice
John Julius Jacobson Jr. was his real name. The American citizen was born in California on August 12, 1979. He changed his name twice: the first time was prior to getting married and gaining father-free status. He asserted that his father mistreated him at the time together with his mother. The murderer decided to go by the name Skylar Julius Deleon as a result since he thought it was gender-neutral. After that, Skylar DeLeon, a stroke of luck, entered her life.
3. He Worked in the United States Navy
He quit the acting industry due to financial issues and enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 20. But he was barred from continuing after a fifteen-day absence that was not authorized.

6. Skylar was Broke just Before the Murder
The Hawks family was assured by Skylar that he would pay for their $460,000 yacht in cash, but Deleon and his wife Jennifer were $90,000 in debt at the time of the incident. While the actor hopped from job to job, Jennifer Deleon worked at a hair salon to help pay bills. Deleon finally started watching their one-year-old daughter at home while her pregnant wife brought in the bacon because they had a low combined income and neither could justify hiring a babysitter.
7. An Advertisement for a Yacht led Power Ranger Murderer to the Hawks family
The former actor and his pregnant wife were desperate to escape their miserable lives and would pay any price to do it. They believed they had finally found an entrance to Easy Street when they came across an advertisement for a 55-foot yacht. They promptly got in touch with the property’s owners, retired probation officer Thomas Hawks and his wife Jackie, and arranged for a showing.
8. Skylar had Two men with him for Support
When Deleon went to inspect the yacht in person, he brought two friends with him, claiming to be in the market for the yacht owned by the Hawks family. The first defendant to go on trial was Jennifer, Deleon’s wife. After being presented as a cold-hearted, money-hungry plotter working with her husband and even using their 9-month-old child to win the Hawkses’ trust, she was found guilty and given two consecutive life sentences without the chance of parole.
14. The Murderer was Accused of Slitting John Jarvi Throat
John Jarvi, 45, of Anaheim, California, the body was discovered near a road in Ensenada, Mexico. The body was discovered on December 27, 2003. Skylar was later accused of slitting his throat and having $50,000 stolen from him.
15. Skylar Met Jarvi at Seal Beach Jail
In December 2003, while both were detainees at Seal Beach Jail, Deleon met Jarvi. Jarvi gave Deleon more than $50,000 so he could participate in a fictitious investment opportunity in Mexico. Instead, Deleon hacked Jarvi’s neck in Mexico before abandoning him to perish by the side of a road.

16. The Murderer Used the $50,000 to Purchase an Anal Sex Machine from Jail’s Computer
Deleon, who was still a detainee at Seal Beach Jail at the time of the Jarvi slaying, carried out the homicide while on furlough. According to the Orange County Register, he used some of the cash to purchase an anal sex machine from the jail’s computer when he got back.
17. Skylar Deleon Received a Death Sentence
The jury selection process for the Deleon case started on September 22, 2008. Deleon was jointly tried for the slayings of Thomas and Jackie Hawks and John Jarvi in a case that was brought together. After the trial started, Deleon’s lawyer admitted that Deleon had indeed committed all three killings despite Deleon’s initial claims of innocence. Deleon was found guilty on three counts of first-degree murder with multiple victims and exceptional circumstances involving financial gain on October 20. On November 6, 2008, the jury returned a death sentence for Deleon.
18. Skylar Deleon Tried to Chop off His Penis While in Jail
Deleon, who was born a man, used a razor blade to partially sever his penis on March 13, 2008, while he was being detained in custody. He received medical attention and was sent back to jail the next day. Deleon revealed during an interview with ABC’s 20/20 that he tried to chop off his penis because he wanted to be a lady.
19. Skylar Said that He Killed the Couple to Get Funds for Hormone Therapy
Deleon murdered Thomas and Jackie Hawks to obtain the funds for hormone therapy. He asserted that a Colorado surgeon had already been paid a $500 deposit and that he had reassignment surgery booked for two weeks following the date of the murders.
20. Deleon Changed his Gender while in Prison
Deleon’s plea for hormone therapy was granted by a federal judge. Deleon formally changed his gender to female in 2019, and she now goes by Skylar Preciosa Deleon. She has since completed her transformation and is currently leading the ( life of her dreams.
